Same person but not really😁. Sweets are my kryptonite. I didn’t realize how much damage I was causing to my health🤦🏽‍♀️. It was taxing on my body and hearing the words pre-diabetic and obese in the same sentence was embarrassing. I never wanted to feel like that again. . Core and gluts 🍑 and breath 💨 , oh my! • I remind 🤔my patients and students 🧘🏻‍♀️ that linking their breath 💨 to their movement helps make every exercise a “core” exercise. • Swipe left 👈to see 3 accessible exercises that will help ignite 🔥 your belly and your tush. • Add an exhale 🗣during the hardest part of the movement to help drive the synergy of the whole system! (Turn up the sound 📢 to hear 👂🏼 that breath work in action.) • ▶️Clip 1 👉 Not Your Mama’s Plank • Inhale as you reach across for the weight. Exhale as you pick it up and pull it across to the other side. Repeat with your breath 💨 as your metronome for the movement speed. Don’t rush! Consider dropping your knees if your back hurts or your belly can’t stay connected with the breath. • ▶️Clip 2👉 Kneeling Tush Ups with a Band • Inhale as a prep with your tush 🍑 resting on your heels. Exhale as you move to a high kneel. Avoid a big tail tuck as you get to the top of the movement. Add a little fire 🔥 by keeping your bottom rib down a touch as you rise up. • ▶️ Clip 3 👉Ball Bridges • Prep with an inhale when your tush is on the ground. Exhale 💨 as you lift your bum off the ground. Play around with how much you need your arms to help. Kick 🦵 it up a notch with a single leg variety. Following on from yesterday's post-something else your thyroid doesn't like is disturbed sleep. However, thyroid issues can cause sleep problems..... 😴😴 Disturbed sleep, whether from nightshift working, poor sleep habits, or a health related sleep issue, has been linked to poorer cognition, mental health issues, cancer, cardiovascular problems, and interestingly insulin resistance, thyroid issues and weight gain. 🤔🤔 Many women around menopause do find it easier to gain weight and harder to lose it. Perhaps what is happening hormonally has a part to play, perhaps your sleep habits have a part to play?? ⬇️⬇️ Improving your sleep is going to be beneficial, whether you have a problem with your thyroid or not. Not only can it help reduce the risk of some of the conditions above, but it may also support a healthy body weight, if this is something you have had problems with. 👍👍 I will talk more about weight gain in other posts but let's stick to sleep today. 😴😴 To improve your sleep; ✔ Avoid caffeine, alcohol, or sugary drinks in the last few hours before bed ✔ Try to establish a sleep and wake routine ✔ Help your body prepare to sleep by turning off screens and blue lights an hour or so before bed and doing something like reading or meditation. Make your bed comfortable and the room dark. ✔ Start exercising if you don't already. Not only can this improve metabolism but can also improve your sleep ✔ Eat your last meal a few hours before bed and don't eat again until the morning. ✔ Try to allow exposure to natural light and the outdoors during the day to help with your body's natural rhythms. #Repost @ashchrisevora • • • • • • In Ovum My Head: It has been 7-months since my life changed forever. I had a cancer scare. A tumour showing malignancy was found in my right ovary measuring 10.5cm x 6.4cm x 3.7cm. It was painful to the point that I was in the emergency room 13 times in 7-months with many specialists appointments and procedures in-between. I struggled with the stereotype that just because I was young, my pain would pass. The health and future of my ovaries were in question. This challenged me physically, spiritually and emotionally. It also made me stronger, made me wiser, made me surrender myself to God and allow His love to fill my heart. I learned to advocate for myself, I fought to have the best doctors, the inner strength that came out was due to a Higher Power. Those who were closest to me during this time saw my courage come out day-by-day. I was fearless because I knew He would do His will. Yesterday marked 3-months since my surgery. I was beyond blessed to have the tumor removed, 85% of my ovaries saved and not have Ovarian Cancer. My recovery was slow and painful. I gained 18 pounds. Less than 24 hours later you were ours and you had found your furever family! We had no intention of getting dog, I told Ross we’d just go for a ‘look’ 🙈 . We took you home and we had some work to do! A troubled and horrendous start to life but look at you now 😍🤩 Love heals all! . ✨TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF✨ . I've been loving sharing the little things that can help you move forward on your fertility journey.  I'm so glad that many of you reached out to say you found these tidbits on my stories helpful even if you're not on a fertility journey.  Because the truth is, the fertility journey is your life journey.  They are actually the same thing. . Yesterday I talked about taking the pressure off.  Often you mentally build up your goal so high, that it can seem impossible to achieve.  You create long to-do lists, you research, you work hard on getting better, getting faster, accomplishing more and this creates immense pressure in your system. . It creates a lot of stress in the body, and ironically it makes you less efficient at getting what you want. . So I encourage you to take the pressure off.  Take one small baby-step.  Take just one right action today.  You don't have to do it all in one day.  Maybe your right action is to rest.  Maybe its to tune out and go for a walk.  Maybe its finally sending that difficult email you've been holding on to.  Just do one small thing.  And do it again tomorrow. . Cuando como afuera, busco equilibrar mi plato con proteína, grasas, carbohidratos y vegetales, poco o nada de azúcar. . Este sistema me funciona muy bien y es el que le muestro a mi clientas. . En este ejemplo no está "perfecto", porque en el plato hay mucho arroz. Yo tiendo a mantener las porciones de carbohidratos muy moderada y satisfacerme con lo demás. . O sea, por lo general, elijo bien poquito o nada de arroz y elijo otro carbohidratos que no me haga sentir inflada y mantenga mi abdomen lo más plano y liviano posible. . La inflamación extrema no es normal. . Me funciona muy bien este método y nunca me siento restringida. . Mi intención siempre va a ser sentirme bien y mantenerme con energía. Esto va a la mano con mantener un peso saludable y a la vez expando mi consciencia y mi relación con mi cuerpo y con la comida. . Puedes tenerlo todo si cuidas tus pensamientos y tus creencias y sigues lo pasos correctos para ti en el momento. 🙂💕🙏🏼 . Me gusta compartirles mi métodos y ayudarles a que desarrollen los suyos. . WEIGHT LOSS AND THE GIANT LIE YOU ARE TOLD. “Just eat less so you can drop those pounds” Are you kidding me? I love how eating as many meals as a homeless person would be considered “sound advice” for being healthy and getting lean (Please hear the sarcasm in that statement) But I can’t blame you, because that is what we have been told over and over again. And it has lead to SO MANY women trying to starve themselves to fit a certain shape. . But let me ask you this... Would you ever consider it “sound advice” if someone told you: “The best way to take care of that baby and to make sure it’s healthy is to barely feed it” ...Umm... ...that’s called “malnourishment” . And yet these experts and giant fitness companies will spout lies to millions of people to make another buck. . But you? You’re smarter than that Why? Because you’re someone who’s willing to read this post and find out THE TRUTH. Now, don’t get me wrong I’m not here to judge I used to be one that believed in “The Starvation Strategy” Calories in, calories out.. right? No… not really . I’m telling you this because I get it. I’ve been there. . ...BUT... When I discovered the truth…and then felt how different, how much BETTER, my body felt, it all made sense. . Here’s the TRUTH about sustainable weight loss that doesn’t require you eating as little as a homeless person: ⁃Stay away from trendy diets ⁃Do not get hooked by someone selling a “quick fix” ⁃Try to fill your plate with real food (unprocessed, single ingredients, that either grew from the earth or ate something that did) ⁃Be active daily! (Bonus points if it is something you enjoy) ⁃LOVE YOURSELF THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS, NOT JUST THE FINAL PRODUCT. Do not only love the ‘you’ that looks a certain way… love does not work with ultimatums. . This is the truth that may change your life. 🌶Easy and delicious stuffed green peppers!😋 . My biggest advice for others is to realize eating healthy does NOT need to be boring! . You can make any dish more calorie/macro friendly simply by adjusting ingredient amounts, substituting ingredients and making sure to pay attention to your serving sizes! . Pre heat oven to 450 degrees. . Combine 1.33 pounds 93% lean ground beef , 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs, 1/2 cup Classico Italian sausage pasta sauce (or sauce of your choice) , chopped onions (I like a good amount of onion but you can adjust if you want) , 1 clove garlic minced, 1 egg whisked, salt and pepper to taste. . Make sure to mix throughly. Take the green peppers and cut the top off in order to remove the core and take out the seeds. I then cut a little extra off the top in order to make it easier to put the stuffing in. . After you have stuffed the peppers top with a couple spoonfuls of the pasta sauce and then bake for 60-70 minutes or until cooked through. (Depending on how big your peppers are or how many peppers you are making the time could be less). . I never repost anything on my page, but this I feel everyone needs to read. It is my pure passion that we STOP medicating the surface symptoms and start delving deep into our health and the root of our problems. Covering a symptom with medicine has never fixed anything, most of the time it can end up making it worse. Just to be clear, I am not anti-medicine. It is 100% necessary in certain circumstances, but giving someone anti-depressants for the rest of their life whilst never helping them address the root of the damage is a dis-service as a health professional. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Repost from @drmarkhyman This way of thinking about disease is completely wrong: it’s based on a diagnostic system that focuses on where the issue is located in your body—the geography—and the symptoms. ⁣ ⁣ We classify all of these discrete diseases and then we try to treat each one separately with a drug. We call this the name it, blame it, and tame it game in medicine.⁣ ⁣ For example, someone goes to see a doctor complaining of sadness, hopelessness, helplessness, low mood, no energy, poor appetite and poor sleep. Their doctor tells them they have depression, and prescribes an antidepressant. Guess what? Depression is not the cause of those symptoms; it’s the name we give to that collection of symptoms, and the antidepressant will do nothing to address the underlying cause. ⁣ ⁣ Depression is not a Prozac deficiency.⁣ ⁣ This way of treating patients is completely wrong. It’s the past. The future of medicine is understanding how your body functions, how it becomes imbalanced, and how to correct that balance. The future of medicine is looking at patterns and connecting everything together.⁣ ⁣ I encourage you to find a Functional Medicine practitioner who can help you address the root cause of your problems. I read this recently in a book. It stuck with me. I believe we have to look at medical care this way. Especially with illness or chronic illness. Yes, I wish it was easier and all doctors were perfect experts but they are not. It’s our job as the patient to come in armed. Data- aka all your medical records, a diary of pain & symptoms, anything else that shows how serious you are with patterns of what is going on. - If the doctor is not taking you seriously or your gut says no. Time to move on; thank u, next. Keep fighting for the care you deserve. Follow your intuition it will not mislead you. You know when something is wrong. It’s not in your head. Be More Present 💆🏻‍♀️. # Often it is easy to get caught up in chasing the next thing, the next goal or milestone, accompanied by the good old ‘’I’ll be happy when...’’ # It’s easy to believe that ‘’happiness’’ will arrive when you get that dream house, when you get that big job promotion at work, when you finally get to that perfect holiday destination you’ve always wanted to visit or when you achieve anything that is of personal significance to you. # These things are great goals to work towards and it’s cool to have goals in life and spend time working towards them as well as achieving them. However, Happiness doesn’t come from anything external, it is generated from within first. External things are exactly that; external. It is important to have goals and be motivated in working towards them (I’m all for that) but it is equally as important (if not MORE) to not forget to STOP, take a look around and be more present, recognising any sort of progress being made along the way. # By constantly chasing the next big thing/goal/milestone there can be a lot of stuff missed out on along the way and no time taken to fully appreciate where you are or living in the PRESENT moment. # Even harder to do these days due to an increased popularity of constantly being on a phone or behind a screen/having constant access at the click of a button (g u i l t y?).
