TRY THESE 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾 It's not always about the "beast' mode" exercises! . . . When people start getting involved in weights they watch all these instagram videos and all they want to do is get good at squats or power cleans, which is fine, BUT if you're training for netball it's really important that you dont neglect the less glamorous exercises. Calf raises are one of those exercises. You dont really get excited about them and lets face it nobody is posting 💥PB ON CALF RAISES💥 (one day when I've sorted mine out I will 😂). Even though they aren't a glamorous exercise they are great for helping with your of the mark speed and spring on court. So give them the same love you give your squats! . . . 💪🏾WANT TO GIVE IT A GO?💪🏾 . . I was holding at the top for 3 seconds lowering for 3 seconds (trying to go below parallel) and pushing back up with two feet. You dont need to be in a gym for these you can just do them on your stairs at home. Here’s some tips to get fitter, stronger and more empowered in both body and mind this new year 1. Know what your going to do BEFORE January! It’s no good waiting til then to set your goals and action plan, you’ll waste half of jan figuring it out 2. Know what’s going to get in your way. The same as you would plan around roadworks on a long drive, figure out what might cause you to struggle so you can plan how to attack it 3. Have a method. They all work as long as it fits your lifestyle, but that doesn’t mean you HAVE to go keto, low fat or follow a point system to get there. Make sure you understand the basic principles of nutrition so you can progress without sacrificing the foods you love most 4. Be held accountable. However that may be. If someone is keeping an eye on what you’re doing you’re more likely to do it! This is vital for creating discipline so the habits become consistent 5. Know you’re allowed to enjoy Christmas! Beating yourself up over every chocolate is going to ruin your festivities and cause you to blow out more. It’s two weeks out of the next 52...don’t worry about it. You’re not going to do that much damage if you’re not just shovelling it in for the sake of it! All make sense? I wanted to loose weight but didn’t want to change my mindset. 🙅🏼‍♀️ . When I used to think of transformations, I thought it was weight and thought my transformation had to look like everyone else’s. So when I got to my goal weight, I still wasn’t happy. 😭 . While the physical took place, I wasn’t working on my mindset and I was focused on the wrong things. . Once you start shifting your mindset, that’s when the real transformation began, not when You reach your goal weight. 👏🏼 . So how do you shift your mindset to see the none physical results? Ask questions like these: . -Are you able to run faster than last week? -Did you master that side plank you couldn’t do a few weeks ago? -Are you able to do 5 push-ups now and before you could do one? . There is no such thing as “training to tone” 😳 . When I am discussing fitness goals with someone, they usually start off by saying they want to be “toned". Most of us believe very high reps, light weight, and tons of cardio will get you toned. I hate to break it to ya, but “toned” is just a fancy word for muscle building. And how do we build muscle? WEIGHT TRAINING. 🙌🏽 . Building muscle is harder than you think. There is a common misconception that you automatically turn "bulky" and it just doesn’t work that way. You aren’t going to get bulky unless you are eating in a surplus and not training enough OR eating in a surplus and taking 💉. . Don't be afraid to pick up some weight. Don’t be afraid to go heavy. And don’t constantly restrict yourself from the foods you enjoy. . The more muscle on your body, the faster your metabolism is and the more fat you burn. This gives you the opportunity to rev up your metabolism and keep you on a constant path of making progress. I have been lifting weights since I was 14 years old. I remember doing a chest press with dumbbells that were only 2 pounds! Fast forward 10 years later, I’m pressing up 50 lbs in each hand! Something I come across quite frequently with the general population is the lack of knowledge behind nutrition. ⠀ Generally people have some sort of idea when it comes to sources of protein, however 99% of the time they think they’re consuming a high protein diet, only to find that the foods they thought were high in protein were in fact not. ⠀ I’ve decided to make a general post showing six sources of protein, and the amount of protein in a 100g serve. ⠀ I think it’s very important to take some initiative when it comes to your nutrition by tracking your food intake for at least a short period of time. This will start to give you an idea of macronutrients, calories, measurements etc. ⠀ Whether your goal is to lose body fat, build muscle, get stronger, or health related, protein is beneficial in your diet.

Today’s workout! I accidentally pressed stop on my watch in the beginning of my elliptical workout... so it ended with two ‘workouts’ on my watch. Followed it up with dumbbells for strength training and of course ended with a good stretching session. My mental space with fitness right now.. . Quite honestly, I've already checked out for the year. I am just so tried and rightfully so, because it's been a hectic year for everyone it seems. I just don't get amped to train at this point in time and would much rather be cozed up watching movies🤷‍♀️ . Just another example of how people are never motivated all the time. I have periods where I am inlove with gym, lifting heavy and the energy is just there but some days I have no energy and couldn't be bothered . I know I have this guide to complete and I am so happy with my progress so far but I just end up procrastinating at the gym and having very average sessions where I can't wait to leave. I don't want that relationship with the gym. I want to look forward to going and I usually am but that's when I know I need a break . My best advice if you are in this headspace, if you haven't moved much through out your day, go to the gym and start off by walking slowly on the treadmill and see how you feel. Do something different to your usual schedule or do what you feel. It's all about getting your body moving. If you really don't want to go and don't have the energy then rest. Sometimes all you need is a break and some time to yourself ✨ . Take it easy on yourselves, relax and enjoy your life with the special people and animals in your life. Do something different, change up your routine and enjoy it because motivation will always come back, the gym will still be there and things will fall back into place. It's normal and everything will be OK I promise. Sending lots of love ❤️❤️

This is my first #transformationtuesday 2012 was probably the best shape I've been in then 1 massive pregnancy, an emergency section, pre and post natal depression, a knee operation, suicide of a close friend, the sudden death of my sister nearly a year to the date later I totally lost who I was. This year has been such a massive change for me I changed my job to one I love, I'm now single after nearly 13 years and in March I found #teamrh and never looked back, it was a last chance before I seriously looked into surgery. Well 9 months on I've lost 6 inches of my waist alone, lost 12 lbs of fat and gained not only muscle but so much more. I messed about in summer but still maintained my loss but now I've thrown myself into it again I'm seeing more changes. 230lbs back in September 2018 compared to 173lbs today! I didn't take a lot of pictures back then, but this is the best reference I have for my daily motivation. No matter the obstacle it can be overcame with willpower, dedication, patience, and time. ❤💪 At the time of the picture on the left, I was struggling with IIH, pseudotumor cerebri, daily migraines, and vision loss ALL from gaining too much weight in a short span of time. I tried the keto diet with low-impact cardio, and it worked. I got down to 185lbs. But then I regressed. Dropped off the diet and thought it would be fine. Fast forward a bit, the weight and symptoms came back quickly and led up to a seizure while I was at the in-laws for dinner. I had to have a spinal tap, and further confirmed I needed to lose weight and keep it off. So I turned to strength training + low-impact cardio and haven't turned back. Since I started the new training, maybe 3-4 months ago(?), symptoms haven't surfaced and vision is almost back to normal except slight permanent damage on optic nerves due to the constant IIH-pressure. I feel like my arms/shoulders have some imbalances. Any comments to help me pick out imbalances that can be seen with the body fat still lingering will be noted and appreciated. 😘 Much love and respect for @vexiant and my family, both blood and not, for the constant support and love no matter if I maaaay talk/theorize fitness too much. 🤓😍😘❤ shoutout to @mindpumpmedia for their podcasts and @fitnessblender for helping me begin my fitness journey. Setbacks are normal - felt weird today while hitting upper body. Only my third day being able to hit a full upper day and I can definitely feel and see how not being able to workout affected me. I’ve lost some strength and muscle and was getting fatigued super fast while hitting my workouts. Makes me super sad but I keep reminding myself that there’s nothing I can do but go forward from here! Everyone has their setbacks it just takes pushing through and coming out stronger☺️

As you know, I am back to practicing the mighty snatch... I honestly hate this lift. Genuinely mean that. It’s a complex lift, feels unnatural to me, and the worse of it all, I am always scared of dropping my hips too quickly and fall over, hit the bar on my head or worse. Looking through my Instagram feed and seeing all these athletes performing the lift so seamlessly makes me so angry with myself sometimes. . . The saying goes: ‘practice makes perfect’... But I should also remember that my focus should be on progress - not perfection - and for some reason I tend to forget that. I can't be perfect in everything... but I can gain progress on a daily basis, and that will eventually lead me to where I want to be. . . So for now I’ll be trying different movements under light weight, test the waters with a broom stick, make all the silly mistakes I need to make before I get this right. This will allow me to have a feel of the muscles I need to use, the positions I need to be in, and get some confidence in me. Today I complemented my workout with some snatch balance practice to improve drop under bar. I will also continue to work on accessory stuff to improve overall springiness, strength and flexibility. . . The thing is, I am not one to be afraid, I have done scarier things before. Last year I did not even know what Olympic weightlifting was, my goal for this year was to learn the snatch - and look where that’s taken me!! I really have to get my head into gear and believe I can do this. I remember the first time I ever stepped foot in the weights section of the gym.... I felt a sense of uncomfortableness and like everyone was staring at me... they wasn’t at all but I think these areas can often feel very daunting for ladies especially. After my induction to this section I vowed that I would put my brave knickers on and get myself back up there, after all what would be the point of being shown when I had no intention of putting it to practice? Well let me tell you nearly 6 months on and I cannot get enough. It is possibly my favourite area of the gym. I love the changes lifting weights has made to my body and I’m loving tracking and monitoring every inch of my progress! I love the sense of achievement when you complete that extra rep or you lift just that 1kg heavier! I think there is also a lot of stigma from women that they don’t want to look “bulky” - I really don’t think you have to worry too much about this. You will be training to improve your body shape at your own pace. So ladies if you are worried please don’t be, I promise you it won’t be as bad as you think and if you are still feeling uneasy then take a friend or ask the staff in your local gym to help you with the equipment! Starting is often the hardest part but once you are there and have a plan there will be no stopping you - you’ll be addicted to falling in love with yourself again! ❤️ P.S this is the first time I have ever worn a crop top to the gym that doesn’t cover my belly... who even am I? 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

♥️No matter what season love yourself♥️ If you’re bulking, cutting, just starting or haven’t quite reached your goal yet. Love and accept yourself. This journey won’t be quick hating and putting yourself down the whole time won’t help. Instead try to make self love a part of this journey you’ll be in such a better place mentally especially when it comes to fitness. I’ll be the first to tell you self love isn’t easy and will probably take some time but it’s definitely worth striving for. I’m not perfect and I have my down days where I beat myself up but I’m having more and more days where I feel confident and loving towards how I look and that’s progress for sure ☺️ if you guys would like some tips on how to start or what you can do to practice self love lmk ❤️

TRY THESE 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾 It's not always about the "beast' mode" exercises! . . . When people start getting involved in weights they watch all these instagram videos and all they want to do is get good at squats or power cleans, which is fine, BUT if you're training for netball it's really important that you dont neglect the less glamorous exercises. Calf raises are one of those exercises. You dont really get excited about them and lets face it nobody is posting 💥PB ON CALF RAISES💥 (one day when I've sorted mine out I will 😂). Even though they aren't a glamorous exercise they are great for helping with your of the mark speed and spring on court. So give them the same love you give your squats! . . . 💪🏾WANT TO GIVE IT A GO?💪🏾 . . I was holding at the top for 3 seconds lowering for 3 seconds (trying to go below parallel) and pushing back up with two feet. You dont need to be in a gym for these you can just do them on your stairs at home.
