Healthy Eating 🍇⁣ •⁣ I'm making my health and fitness a priority for the goal I set for myself, and part of that is making sure that I'm eating the best food I can. Yes I'm busy and it would be 𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐄𝐑 to grab something on the run, but I don't make excuses for myself! 𝐈 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐈 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐈 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈'𝐦 𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ Getting up early means that I've got a few extra minutes to have a healthy breakfast, which is SO important to me. I like eating at home but I know some of you prefer to eat once you get to work, which is also fine - just find what works for you. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ I’ve put together some office breakfast ideas that are great because you can prepare them the night before, which will make your morning easier.⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ✅ My shake every morning, either with the following:⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ✅ Avocado on toast: Just pack a couple of pieces of bread and an avocado, then when you get to the office toast the bread, slice the avocado and put it on top! Add some salt and pepper and you're done.⁣⁣⁣⁣ ✅ Bowl of fruit: Get organised and put some fresh fruit in your bag the night before work. Then slice the fruit for a delicious fruit salad at work. Sometimes I add a spoonful of Greek yoghurt and a drizzle of honey on top, so if you have that in the office add that too!⁣⁣⁣⁣ ✅ Overnight oats: The night before work place 60g rolled oats, 150ml low-fat milk, 125g low-fat plain yoghurt, 1 tbsp chia seeds, a dash of vanilla extract, and a drizzle of honey into a bowl and mix it together. Pour the mixture into a container or jar and add your favourite fruit (I like adding raspberries). Preheat oven to 375F ⁣ 2. In a large bowl combine eggs, salt, pepper and oregano. Whisk until well combined.⁣ 3. In a separate bowl mix spinach, tomatoes and mozzarella.⁣ 4. #Repost @cheatdaydesign @download.ins --- It’s difficult to cover this topic in a single post- but let’s try! Intuitive eating is much different than just having intuition. We don’t naturally know what food choices to make, so if you try to “listen to your body” with no nutrition knowledge whatsoever, you’re going to have no idea what it is telling you. It goes much deeper than simply eating when you’re hungry and stopping when you’re full. It would be like trying out for a basketball team with no knowledge of the rules. Maybe you can pass and shoot, but if you don’t know the basics, you’re going to seriously struggle. Let’s assume you don’t really know the basics: if you want something sweet, you might think that anything with sugar is terrible for you, so you refuse to eat it. But if you truly understand the basics, you’d know you can enjoy your favorite sweets in moderation without concern. On the flip side, maybe you try to listen to your hunger cues. If you find yourself super hungry on Pizza Friday, you might decide to “listen to your body” and have a few slices since you are so hungry. But with an understanding of the basics, you might grab one slice and some salad, knowing that’ll make you feel better and that the salad will fill you up even more than another slice would. I’m taking a page out of @realanniereed ‘s book right now. She was real about suffering from alcohol transfer addiction after her VSG. She even checked herself in for it. I have been plagued by alcohol transfer addiction probably since 3 months post op. I never stopped losing but I stopped losing quickly. However this point at almost 9 months post op, I have gained for the first time on this journey. 7lbs. I am so upset with myself because I just drink drink drink my anxiety away and also eat badly on top of it. Even finding love hasn’t stopped my anxiety. I have it from my job and just my life in general! I increased my bi polar meds (lamictal) to help my season affective disorder and I think that’s contributed to the gain so I went back to my lower dose. I also asked my psych to prescribe me naltrexone, which should help kick my alcohol cravings and is also supposed to help with weightloss. I am not allowed to drink on naltrexone or it could cause serious liver problems. So I think with cutting the alcohol because I want to but also cuz I NEED TO will really help me get back on the wagon. Thursday’s lunch. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I think I’m just a little bit in love with this pizza topped bagel double cheeseburger. I saw the amazing @big_welsh_man_sw make something similar to this the other day and it was to die for so I had to give it a go and put my own little spin on it! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Starting from the bottom (lol hi drake), I used the toasted base of a New York bakery seeded bagel thin (HEXB) and layered salad leaves (speed), ham (free), 2 quorn brilliant burgers (1 syn each) topped with 20g of cheddar cheese (1/2 HEXA) and then a fried egg (free/protein). For the pizza top, I used the second half of the bagel thin and spread a thin layer of tomato purée (free) on it then topped with 20g grated mozzarella (1/2 HEXA) and placed under the grill until cheese has melted (I left mine in a little too long, oops). I also had 0.5 syns worth of ketchup. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This was honestly amazing, looked and tasted like it was soooo naughty but it was only 2.5 syns. Sometimes it’s scary stepping into our purpose. It’s scary because it usually requires us to start new habits and drop old ones. Change is ALWAYS challenging, even if it is for the better. ⁣ ⁣ I had inner conflict going on for years. I KNEW deep down that my purpose was the help people, to talk about stuff a lot people don’t want to, stay real with ppl and support them on their journey to their best life. ⁣ ⁣ My binge eating habit held me back for a long time. I felt afraid of what stepping into my purpose would require (putting myself out here, reaching out to people, sharing my story, staying consistent) I turned to food. I would place all of my attention on food because it was my “safe” place. ⁣ ⁣ But still every single time I would binge - I KNEW that my purpose was being delayed, I was a distracted. ⁣ Isn’t it crazy how much time we spend thinking about and eating food? ⁣ ⁣ For those of us who’ve spent countless hours stressing about exactly how many calories were in that bagel, muffin, banana etc., doing cardio for 3 hours the day after a binge, what we’re going to order at for dinner at the restaurant tomorrow night.. it’s SO time consuming. ⁣ ⁣ Imagine how much of that time could have been used creating or nurturing something; an idea, a relationship, a book, a painting, a clean house, a business, a degree, or whatever else you’d like to create. ⁣ ⁣ So you get the point. Now what? If you’re nodding along and saying “yes I know, but what do I do about it?” I GOT YOU. ⁣ ⁣ The first step is clarity, so FIRST⁣ ⁣ 1)Take out a piece of paper and write down 3 things you really want to do or create ⁣ 2)write down WHY. Really spend some time thinking about this. WHY is this important to you. ⁣ 3) write down ONE action step you could take towards each thing, DAILY. Just one! Keep it simple.⁣ 4) Do it. ⁣ ⁣ Sometimes we don’t know WHAT our purpose is, or what we can’t to create with our life. This makes it even easier to get distracted by food or caught in a cycle of binge eating because we don’t have DIRECTION. We get caught in the round about, just spinning around. ⁣ ⁣ If that’s you right now - you DO have a purpose. We all do. It might just take some digging. ♥️

#tbt I've have been getting many dm telling me how the can feel my energy through my post and asked me questions about my struggles with weightloss, because I follow a lot of food and weight loss IG accounts to learn ways eat better and healthier. This picture is almost 20 years old and I have gain about 25 pounds since. The weight gain from three pregnancy, bad eating habits, lack of exercise, total hysterectomy without hormone replacement therapy, and LIFE has something to do with my weight gain(not making excuses) Like others, I've tried dieting and the weight I've lost would end up coming back because I LOVE TO EAT( I'll tell you more about this later.) This is a reminder to myself. If you aren't seeing progress doesn't mean progress won't come. It's been a slow month in terms of goals. I've had very low motivation past few weeks and had not been tracking my meals. Went out to eat all weekend for Valentine's day and just because. Ate a whole pizza on Sunday and barely moved. 3 days later I reached a new low weight for the year 😁 all it took was getting back on track. They tested my cortisol level and it was way too high. 📢 I got stuff to say 📢 A different kind of #transformationthursday 🤗 In 2016 I lost 120 lbs in a year. And in just under 3 years, I gained 80lbs. Having a horrible relationship with food coupled with an emotionally abusive relationship will do that. . See the problem is this... the first time I lost weight, I was doing it for all the wrong reasons. I hated the way I looked and how I felt. I was a prisoner over food. I obssessed over cardio. I thought if I looked a certain way that I would be loved a certain way. But the only person I needed to find love with, was myself! . Because I didn't take care of that when first starting, as soon as my relationship started going south, I let food take care of me again. . . In 2019, I put my foot down. I stood up for me. I stood up to my fear of being alone. To the fear of loving myself the way I should have the first time around. I took everything back in my own hands and lots almost all the weight I gained back. . What I found along the way, was an understanding and a love for myself. My relationship with food is amazing now. I stand up for myself more than I ever have in the past. . . You CANNOT build a better you, a new you, with the wrong foundation. I dont regret anything that's happened because it steered my in the right direction and for that, I'm forever greatful. I'm on the right track now. It's taking longer to get where I want because I'm doing it right and enjoying every step along the way. . . Sometimes the universe tests you. Whether it’s burnout at work, the loss of a family member, or the furnace kicking it on the coldest day of the year, life is messy🤷🏼‍♀️ - You run out of prepped meals, you don’t make it the gym as often as usual, the house is a train wreck, and your food choices might not be ideal because you’re making them on the run. Sound familiar? - Listen, 💩 happens and then you get back on track. You don’t beat yourself up. You don’t give up. You don’t binge to cope with stress. You don’t say fck it. - Go back to basics. Go back to what you know works for you and makes you feel your best. And then do the best you can. - Prep your meals if only for tomorrow, take 5 minutes to stretch, sweep the kitchen floor, straighten your couch pillows, read a paragraph of your book, take an extra minute in the shower to breathe. - Just don’t stop altogether. - Skip the all or nothing thinking that says, “I’ll just wait until life slows down to get back on track,” because who knows when life will slow down?! - Instead focus on the tasks in front of you. Prioritize them. What needs to be done first and what can wait? As a follow up to yesterday’s post, today’s pro tip is trying new foods!🙌🏻 - If you work with me, one of the first things I will tell you, is that I will not ask you to eat foods you do not like (see previous post), however, I will encourage you to try new foods. - Part of reducing food anxiety is broadening your horizons and increasing the variety in your diet instead of getting trapped into the “I can only eat x, y, and z,” mindset. You just have to keep an open mind! - You might say to me, “Okay Meredith but I don’t eat vegetables because I don’t like them.” - I respect that there are some vegetables you do not like, however, unless you have tried EVERY VEGETABLE EVER, I would encourage you to try a vegetable you have never had before! Or another option is to try cooking a vegetable you are not particularly fond of in a different way. You may discover you really enjoy it! - Or if you are a meal prepper, you may tell me, “I get tired of eating the same things all the time.” Good news! There’s a great solution for that: try new foods! Or try new recipes that include some of your favorite foods. - Again, I will say this until you hear me in your sleep, eating well is meant to be ENJOYABLE❣️So stop eating the same things all the time if you don’t like it! Wander around your grocery store or local farmers market and discover something new! - Recently, I was introduced to baby bok choy. I can tell you right now I would have never even thought of trying baby bok choy until a friend made it for me. And now I love it! I have even attempted to try cooking it a few times for myself and my very trusting fiancé😝 - This concept applies to all foods not just vegetables! Last night was pizza night which happens to be my favorite day of the month because pizza is my absolute favorite food❤️ - Pizza night (or taco night or ice cream sundae night) reminds us that all foods can fit into a healthy, nourishing diet (diet= your daily meal pattern). Pizza night means you can still achieve your goals while eating your favorite foods. Depriving yourself of things you enjoy does not lead to sustainable food and lifestyle changes and eating well is all about sustainability and consistency. - Eating more healthfully to achieve your goals is NOT meant to be isolating. That voice in your head that says, “oh no I can’t eat that” or “oh no I can’t go out to eat,” is food anxiety talking. Do not give it the time of day. Go out on date night, have dinner at your friends house, go to the movies. You can do all of these things and it will not ruin your progress. - Pizza night does not mean you throw away the entire weekend either. Eat your regular meals, order a side salad with your pizza, pack a ton of veggies into your tacos, eat a well-balanced dinner before making your ice cream sundaes. One meal does not negate an entire weekend of eating well🙅🏼‍♀️ - So have your pizza/taco/ice cream night and ENJOY it! Feelings of guilt and anxiety will only take away from the experience, they will do absolutely nothing to move you towards your goals. - Love you guys! This list could easily be 100 items long, but I could only fit so many here- so here are some of my top tips. 1) The single most important rule: you need to be in a caloric deficit to lose weight. You can drink all the fit tea in the world and wear a waist slimmer 24/7, but they’re not going to do anything for you. Caloric. Deficit. Always. 2) No food is ever off limits. You can eat ice cream or cookies or cake AND lose weight. As long as you eat mostly healthy and your calories are in check, no single food is ever going to derail you. You don’t need to deprive yourself or be miserable. 3) The answer to the question “how much fat should I eat” is impossible for someone to answer for you. There are guidelines we can use, but these exact numbers vary. Find what works best for you. 4) Every day is not going to be perfect. And that’s okay- they don’t need to be. You can always get back on track. 5) There are no secret tricks to meal timing. Intermittent fasting works for people because it helps them keep their calories low. At the end of the day, the timing of when you eat does not matter. 6) Don’t chase quick results. Trying to crash diet and dropping your calories down an insane amount is not only going to make you feel terrible, but it’s going to make your weight loss journey even more difficult. Take it slow, I promise it will be worth it. 7) You don’t need to do any extra cardio to lose weight. Cardio can help you achieve a deficit, but as long as your calories are in check, you don’t need to spend hours on the treadmill if you hate it. Ça me fait vraiment bizarre de parler de ça mais j’ai toujours été « la petite grosse » à l’école 😫🤣 J’ai essayé toute les diètes du monde et oui quelques unes ont fonctionné mais j’ai toujours repris mon poids après. Étant une addict à tout ce qui fait grossir (surtout les cappuccino glacé😂) j’ai toujours été yo-yo et très complexée à l’intérieur de moi à chaque fois que je prenais du poids ! Le 7 juillet 2019 j’ai fait le #30daystohealthyliving et c’est la 1ère fois de ma vie que j’ai réussi à perdre du poids SAINEMENT juste en changeant vers une alimentation anti-inflammatoire 💪🏼❤️🥗 je me suis éduqué et conscientisé sur la santé, ce qui fait que je n’ai pas repris de poids depuis et je ne me suis jamais de ma vie sentie aussi bien dans ma peau. • Aujourd’hui je suis fière et heureuse de pouvoir partager mes connaissances et aider des femmes qui n’ont pas une bonne estime d’elles-mêmes, celles qui veulent apprendre comme moi j’ai appris. Bell peppers are a tasty, colorful, & low calorie snack that are also extremely nutritious. Bell peppers are packed with vitamin C, A, water, & antioxidants. They’re also low in calories & a good source of additional vitamins & minerals like vitamins E, B6, K1, potassium & folate.⠀⠀ .⠀⠀ One common misconception is that the different colored peppers are all the same plant, just at different stages of ripeness. However, that is not true. While it is true that some green peppers in the grocery store are unripe red peppers, each color has its own unique seed and they all come from different plants.⠀ .⠀⠀ Green peppers- are the most bitter out of all the peppers. They contain vitamin C, but have the least amount of it compared to the others. They are also a great source of vitamin A, potassium, folate, and vitamin E. It is possible that some of the green peppers you see in the store may be unripe red peppers, however they never turn into yellow or orange ones.⠀⠀ .⠀⠀ Yellow peppers- have more than twice the vitamin C than green, and half the vitamin A. Additionally, yellow peppers are a good source of other vitamins & minerals like folate, vitamin E, K1,and B6 & have the antioxidant Violaxanthin present.⠀⠀ .⠀⠀ Orange peppers- contain a bit more vitamin C than green peppers but less than yellow ones. They’re also a good source of vitamin A as well as other vitamins & minerals like potassium, folate, vitamin E, B6, & K1.⠀ .⠀⠀ Red peppers- tend to be the sweetest & have the most vitamin A out of all the bell peppers (they have 8X the amount of vitamin A than green!). They are also a good source of vitamin C & have the antioxidant Capsanthin present, which is responsible for the red color. Before they are ripe, they can be green in color, which is why occasionally green peppers in the store are actually red ones. :)⠀ .⠀⠀ All bell peppers are nutritious and tasty in different ways! "I'll start on Monday" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How many times have we said that? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'll start on Monday soon becomes I'll start next week // I'll start on the 1st of the month // I'll start after the school holidays.. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Guess what? You'll wake up next year having made no progress at all! Life will always get in the way and there will never be the "right time". ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Don't wait for a specific day to start. Start today with a very small change. Then repeat tomorrow. And the day after that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You don't have to change your entire life overnight (nor would I recommend that you do).
