Well this is my last UK post for a month, I’m at the airport about to fly off to Goa to go deep into my #yoga practise & get some much needed sunshine R&R. How’s your Sunday? I’ve been back to my #ashtanga #mysore practise this morning which I have missed a lot the last few months due to a stubborn shoulder injury & im so grateful & happy to be back. I have a huge crush on chipotles in adobo sauce ❤️ because they are wonderfully versatile, great in leftovers and a real game changer for so many different uses. What is it?🤓 Adobo is the marinade and chipotle is the name of the pepper. So, it’s just marinated peppers with a gorgeous smoky flavor. You can find them on the international aisle at most grocery stores. Or, if you prefer, make your own: 4T tomato paste, 1 T apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp cayenne/paprika combined, 1/2 t cumin, and a pinch of oregano, garlic powder and salt. (A pinch simply means personal taste- however much you want, usually about 1/8 tsp in my case). Recipes are notorious for calling for 1 or 2, but chipotles come in a tin of about 8!😳 So what do you with the leftovers? • Just put it in a small container or ice cube tray and freeze them for next time. •Add it into salsa, Bloody Marys, or marinades, or use them! What am I going to do with mine? I’m taking some that were leftover from that sexy, smoky sweet potato soup with chipotle in abode on the website, (check out how we used chipotle in adobe @naturallystrongnonie Chili video too!) and I’m going to purée it and add it into two marinades... the first with lemon and ginger, the second with soy and coconut sugar. Chicken solutions! 😃 I hope my ideas help you, and as always, please let me know how yours turned out! 🥕The simple sides just kept rolling along yesterday. Roasted sweet potatoes in chipotles started my day, then came the lemony cumin carrot salad with dijon mustard and finally charred brussel sprouts with green apples. 🔥How I made the brussel sprouts: Olive oil, about 1 T tossed with a pound of brussel sprouts and a cut lemon. I roasted both the brusselsprouts and the lemon😋 in a 400 degree oven for 35 minutes- got distracted and they accidentally cooked 10 minutes more😮.. and that’s how I got “charred” brussel sprouts! No worries, they were delicious this way..I added chopped green apples and pepita seeds and squeezed that “charred” lemon over it all. All good, make all three.. they are good for your soul. And put it in @zachsierkepottery or @leighbancroft pottery to make it an experience. How/where to get the pottery? Just ask my mum..... this cheeky face screams trouble... 💞 I sometimes wonder how my mum survived me? Aka kid #3!!! A willful one I was, with a tonne of spirit and a huge sense of adventure, my first big reigning in was at the age of 5 when I begged to be let ride down the street and then took off around the block . It was so f#cking liberating!!! Until mum's car came screaming up the dirt road (cause bitumen wasnt round back then lol) and with one hand lifted me and my bike into her car. I still have the scar on my arm from trying to get my bike down from dad's shed roof - cause that seemed like a ridiculous ban - for the love of god I was just going round the block !!!! 😅 I remember this, why? Cause it was the FIRST time I recall my mum swearing!!! She just never swore or cussed!! But I got her there!! 😅😅🙄 Moral of the story is, we push our mum's to the brink and beyond, yet in the deepest of troubles you may find yourself in... they are firece, supportive and loving... cool hey!! ❣ Give me a YES if you can relate or know this is what you offer your child!

In fact, meditation opens up ways of seeing how you think, offers a method to tame those thoughts and bring about a deep, centred balance. Quite simply, it brings you back to your essence. Ummm....just yes!!! However, I'm not on my mat doing asanas. I'm at home, friend inbound with wine ~ ready to chat, talk Dr Jo Dispneza and all things meditation. And yes, we will crank out a meditation in between, cause we THAT cool! 🤓🤓 Mind you we had planned on going out, but work got in the way and this seemed an obvious Plan B 🤣🤣🙏lol!!

With slighlty cooler weather my body is totally craving a warm breakfast. I soak my oats in filtered water over night, stew some apple and cook the be-jeezus out of the oats, finish it off with a splodge of ghee, cashew butter, cinnamon and maple syrup (yes maple syrup!!) And when I say splodge, I'm literally dumping stuff in (aint nobody got time for finesse) As a Vata body type I need these warming, sweet foods. Its so good to know that what Ive craved over my lifetime is what I actually need (just not the shitty version of sweet, and not in excess). Loving the Ayurvedic lifestyle approach - takes all the hassle out of beating yourself up for not being a certain way and it allows you to fully cater to YOUR mind/body needs in ANY season. AKA people....LIBERATION!!!!❤🙏🏼🙏🏼🙌🙌❤

Having a Vata/Pitta mind body type, I really need regular routines and grounding food. Yet it's fumny how we avoid doing the very things we know that are good for us.. the struggle is real for everyone.

I got to bring my passion for fueling the body with nourishing foods to an amazing group of people who braved a long, challenging, snowy climb . . I pride myself on being self taught in the kitchen. I could study inside, or I could do it this way. Last year I had to have Vit D shots, because I was SO low in it. . A few mins, not too long to get my natural shot of it is WAY better than watching my doctor surprise hit me with a needle... yes he surprise injects me. Its better that way for everyone💉🤪🤣

After 2 weeks in retreat, I'm back!!! . When observation, practice and reflection allow you to be completely present... life has a lot to show you, to share with you....the only question is how will jump into it all? . Tentatively? Fearfully? Wholeheartedly? Consciously? . Or a little of everything? There arent any rules, just what works best in THAT moment. . Steal your moments where you can... be it when preparing nourishing food for your body (the ONLY place in which you live), or enjoying the conversations you dive into today, or even if it's just staring at a wall (also not to be underestimated lol... not kidding!😍) .... they are your moments, so treasure them xx

Just to keep it all 'somewhat' real... this is the stuff that usually doesn't make it to Insta. The countless falls, f#ckups and ridiculous expectations of trying to do dragonfly with sesame oil all over my arms!!! @tarajudelle you make it look effortless. Power to you lady!! Watch this space though.. I have ruptured discs in my back, was supposed to give up yoga and had a lot of pressure to have my back operated on. Don't get me wrong, the pain through recovery was unbearable and wearing... but I am fierce when it comes to healing - nothing will get in my way, its just NOT an option. Oh! and my physio would have kiniptions if she saw me doing this .... but progress not perfection hey?!?!?!

I saw this quote in @myfoodreligion new ebook (Fed &Fit in 21) .. do yourself a favour and get it!! It articulated EXACTLY how I feel about why and what I do with the food choices I make and the movement I joyfully take each day. . Having had a year where my health stared me straight in my face then kicked me in my ass, I had people retort to me "All your healthy habits didnt help you!!" I swear (putting the yogi in me aside and had I had the energy to do so or even knew how to do so🤣) I could have round-house kicked then in the face for such comments. . In fact, my healthy habits got me a lot further over the line than should have been possible and my recovery rate was sensational. . This body is my one point of acces to this life I know... It's not a perfect vessel, but it is mine and I have a reverence and respect for it .... and yes, occasionally I take it out for a spin for a night of dancing and drinks!!!🤣🤣🤣. . Go love the place you live in today people!!! Its the only place you got!

I was challenged by my lady @commongroundvitality to participate in the #notsohumblebrag challenge. At first, I told her I wasn’t going to do it. What could I possibly have to say? In the midst of what has felt like a 2 year non stop transitory stage of my life, I’ve found it difficult to feel like I’m really succeeding on any fronts or gaining ground. Yet, when I take a good, eyes and heart wide open look at the life I am now leading I see how that couldn’t be farther from the truth. So here it goes. • In 2 years I have lived in Costa Rica and moved across the country to Austin, TX. Both on my own with no idea what was on the other side. Both places led me to completing 200 hour yoga teacher trainings and gave me the confidence to share my passion of yoga with others. Living in both places ultimately taught me that my heart and home is in Ohio. Having the courage to move back has led me to the amazing community at @yogasquaredakron where I feel so lucky to be seen and valued. I left relationships that didn’t serve me, broke up with the parts of myself that were out dated and now find myself leaning into giving and receiving in my relationships in a brand new way • I am continuing to connect to my passion for cooking whole food, nourishing meals and was honored to cook for @teamadventureportal on their first retreat in NY last month • I’ve gotten serious about my personal practice with yoga and meditation and run a group on Facebook to help others cultivate practices that serve their well being • Almost daily, I feel like I could be/should be doing more. While to some degree that will always be the case, I am learning to appreciate exactly where I am, to love all parts of myself, and trust that I offer something of value to the world • Now it’s your turn @stancedex @carlyloveskale . I have been asking myself a lot lately what my definition of success is. And as I was teaching this morning a new answer came to the for front of my mind that I hadn’t considered. My success isn’t based on the number of students in my class, clients on the massage table, number in my bank account, “perfect” body, or on validation and likes. What makes me feel successful is being real, raw, and unapologetically authentic. I may make decisions that others think are crazy. I may be impulsive and a bit of a dreamer. I may feel inadequacy and fear and doubt creep in. And all of those things make up the truest expression of who I am. Maybe I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s okay. Dinner tonight was inspired by effortless simplicity! A clean salad, dressed only with olive oil and lemon juice. Accented with some super fresh Australian Barramundi, pan seared in home made ghee, salt n cracked pepper. . Sometimes you just gotta peel it back to innocent flavours that sing for themselves. Or... drop all the fancy words and call it for what it was... a quick n easy dinner. Bahahaha!!🤣❤

Tonight’s dinner creation for my boo and I satisfied my pizza craving. I used @simplemills artisan bread mix for the crust and topped it with arugula, roasted butternut squash, sautéed garlic & red onion, goat cheese, pan seared chicken thighs and a balsamic reduction. One of my daily rituals! Setting an intention for the day. I picked this practice up 5 years ago when I was at the Gawler Foundation on a cancer retreat ( as a support for my mother-in-law). . It was such a simple but profound practice which instilled a sense of being supported by a larger force... especially in a time when the cards that were dealt felt like a shit hand. . I couldn't buy them anywhere, so I made these...and each and EVERY morning I draw a card, frame my intention for the day and off I go! . Being a creative person, I.M.A.G.I.N.A.T.I.O.N just purely excites me...it seems natural in fact. So off I go, ready to imagine... I'll start with imagining a 'Happy Tuesday' for everyone!!

After teaching this morning, I came back to my boo’s place to this wonderful breakfast. Talk about nourishment, I have found someone that feeds my mind, body and soul. Emily’s presence in my life caught me totally off guard. How’s your Sunday? I’ve been back to my #ashtanga #mysore practise this morning which I have missed a lot the last few months due to a stubborn shoulder injury & im so grateful & happy to be back. Good morning! Anyone fancy some green #proats to start the day with a high protein satiating & blood sugar balancing breakfast? Well this is my last UK post for a month, I’m at the airport about to fly off to Goa to go deep into my #yoga practise & get some much needed sunshine R&R. It’s been a tough few weeks & I know I have a habit of taking on too much with relationships, exams, clients, retreats & striving for perfection in it all. Most beautiful evening tonight. I can feel the winds shifting and the newness coming in. The seasons upon us. Sitting at the water edge. Water always the teacher. “With water, there is life.
