Sending out thanks to the amazing community around me that supported us after the birth of Sol. I'm absolutely blown away by the stellar collective effort to help us during this crazy beautiful time. For the first six weeks we had friends coming to our house to do chores, bring meals and take our big girl out for fun and leave the home in a restful quiet space for me and bub. I even received a shiatsu treatment, footbath and was commanded to nap while having my house tidied! And special mention goes to my incredible midwife, that washed dishes and brought flowers on top of the postnatal physical care. Oh my! Definitely an excercise of my ability to receive! We don't have family support living nearby, which is quite common for most these days. Knowing how valuable it is to have help in postpartum (thanks first child!), during the pregnancy I put the call out to our local friends and it was answered with such willingness. I used two models of community care, mealtrain.com and Seven Sisters for Seven Days post partum program which I'm happy to share more about. With all this help my recovery has been smooth and as a family we've been able to enjoy Sol and bond well. Not only does it feel like a great outcome but I'm newly inspired by the possibilities of a village coming together. As a collective we can creative supportive lives and end the struggle. Thank you Thank you Thank you 🙏🙏🙏 You know who you are. I will never forget your kindness, generosity, sensitivity and understanding for the process a family goes through after the birth of the baby. I can't wait to reciprocate to you personally, and I'm hanging out for my next friend to get pregnant so I can nurture her as I have been😉💗💗💗

Rest and recuperation after birth is sooooo not socially sexy..... getting back into your skinny jeans and carrying on life as normal is socially celebrated ------ at least it USED to be! Thankfully terms like: the fourth trimester, the golden month, matrescence are becoming more recognized and consideration is given during pregnancy to the complex needs of newborn mothers. With postpartum depression rates increasing and the leading cause of death in new mothers is suicide - it's something every couple should consider as an extension of pregnancy.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you're pregnant, tell me - what have you put in place for your postpartum recovery? How would you like to feel during this time? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #newmum #newbornmother #fourthtrimester #postpartum #postnataldepression #newbaby #sunshinecoastdoula #postpartumdoula #selfcare #empoweredbirth #firstfortydays #sunshinecoastmum #nourishthemother #postpartumcare #postpartumanxiety #mentalhealth #pregnant #pregnancy #slowpostpartum #kindredbirth #newborndays #slowdays #holdingnewmothers

When we have a new baby in the house it doesn't take long to realise that things can take a LOT longer to do than they used to! Sometimes it seems that there are not enough hours in the day to get through all of the things. We find ourselves feeling frazzled and overscheduled with barely a minute in the day to ourselves. The truth is, we all have the same amount of time - we often just try to fill it up with too much. Here are three tips to help you slow down and bring more spaciousness in your life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ * Write a To-Do List in the morning - then halve it. Ideally, there should be no more than two or three things on it. Having a shower should maybe be one of them (maybe). Eating breakfast, lunch and dinner should definitely be on there. A nap too. Try to delegate or postpone everything that is not urgent. Ask for help.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ * Create padding. Plan extra time around all of your tasks so that there is space before and after them. If it normally takes an hour to get to the shops and back, plan for two hours. You may find that this means you have some extra time to relax (and make sure you do!) but often unexpected delays (poo explosions/extra feeds) means that this is the time you will need and you won't feel rushed or harried.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ * Take time to breathe, or drink tea (ideally hot) or to stretch, or to walk or nap. Plan something every day that makes you feel good inside and out. It need only take five minutes but if it feeds your body or soul it will make your day better.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With love Jojo x ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #slowpostpartum #postpartum #slowpostpartumrevolution #postpartumrecovery #slowliving #postpartumplan #thefourthtrimester #thegoldenmonth #thesittingmoon #thesacredwindow #lifeafterbirth #caringfornewmothers #postpartumdoula #birth #pregnancy #newmother #thefirstfortydays #internationaldoula #simpleliving

Your recovery after birth depends on how you care for yourself, and how you let others care for you. Spend this precious and fleeting time slowing w-a-y down. In a world where we find ourselves so busy, this can come as a huge challenge to many parents. Use these tips as sweet little reminders: Five days in the bed- there literally isn't anything more important than resting, eating, showering, using the toilet, and skin to skin with your baby! Five days on the bed- allow your partner and friends to bring you meals and keep your water and tea cups full. Change into some comfy clothes, and send those birth announcements! Five days near the bed- step outside for some fresh air and sunshine, mosey into the kitchen for a quick bite with your family, pour a cup of tea, and then back to bed! Be sure to explain all of this to your friends and family before the birth. Go ahead and blame us 😉💗 : #postpartumrecovery #postpartum #slowpostpartum #thebirthingtreesantafe #thebirthingtreedoulas #postpartumdoula #doula

Repost • @michellepalasia . 11 days Post Partum ~ as her Doula, I’m pretty sure the most common thing I’ve said on repeat (and texted to both her and her husband) is ... . “do you have a drink bottle with you?” “make sure you drink some water” “here you go, have some more water” “does she have water next to her?” “water, water, water...drink!” . Pregnancy, birth, post partum...get that H2O in your body! Flush out those toxins, build up that goodness and hydrate. Staying hydrated is EVERYTHING through EVERY stage of your birth journey and you’ll be surprised at how easily a Post Partum Mum forgets to drink water 💦 @evie_ward92 💦 . #thisispostpartum #slowpostpartum #neverenough

BABY BLUES Bringing a baby home & getting settled into a new life of parenthood is not always easy.  It is ok to take a ‘BabyMoon’ to get to know baby. With the hormonal changes and sleep deprivation is there any wonder we experience a brief period of worry and unhappiness. . . It looks different for all of us surround yourself with a support system that you feel safe to talk openly with - doula/midwife/partner/friend/family. This too shall pass in time. You may experience irritability, crying, low energy and even extreme sadness. If we talk we can be supported and Mamahood doesn’t have to be done alone. . . Tips ~ number one ESSENTIAL OILS lean into them MOOD MANAGEMENT For those everyday mamahood/postpartum. seriously get them into your life. FIRST UP BALANCE! you will find me stop droping and breathing this baby from the bottle. CITRUS BLISS uplifting & energising and will give you a spring in your step, love this at lunch or early arvo for that pick me up, ELEVATION only good vibes here.. i love pairing this with spearmint to set the tone for the day ... Ahhhh and when you need a warm cosy hug. Bed time and slowing the day down LAVENDER PEACE diffuse diffuse diffuse . . Or EMOTIONAL KIT I LOVE THE TOUCH RANGE for the first forty days easy accessible at any time PEACE, CONSOLE, CHEER, MOTIVATE, FORGIVE, PASSION . . ~ NOURISH YOURSELF emotionally, physically, mentally. From the foods you eat (nourishing and easy to digest, nutrient dense foods like broths, soups, Dahl’s), self love & care (even the small things tea in the sun)!, supported by friends and family and even the water you drink (stay hydrated). You are a goddess you just birthed a baby you should be treated like one. . . ~ SHOWER AND AROMATIC DRESSING this doesn’t matter when it will freshen you up then lather yourself in essential oils. I love Ylang Ylang, Clary Sage & Whisper or Doterra’s women blend Clary Calm. Great to support our hormones. . . ~ BE SLOW be gentle with yourself and give yourself permission to slow down because your only job right now is to be with your baby - to learn and to love . . Tag a fellow Mama who is in their first forty days or near that

Real talk. Can we agree, at least here in this space, to dispense with the "bounce back" culture talk? Can we stop measuring how well a woman's postpartum experience is going by her ability to "bounce back" after giving birth? It's unhelpful, at best, and outright toxic at its core. The physical and emotional toll of birthing and caring for a new human is almost unimaginable--filled with the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows. Let's give this experience its due and allow ourselves time to process. Target will wait. Promise. #postpartum #postpartumrecovery #slowpostpartum #betterpostpartum #postpartumsupport #postpartumdoula #inhomesupport #newmomlife #postpartum life #takebackpostpartum #motherhoodunplugged

Bom dia!!

New motherhood and the fourth trimester is hard to define. Yet these words really resonate for me, and serve as a reminder of the grandeur and spirit of mother, as well as the suuport within the circle of women. Let motherhood and sisterhood be always together💧🌿💗 #Repost @fourthtrimestercollective • • • • • • Who is she? As she sits with her whole world in her arms, she's drifting somewhere in between: Desperate for sleep, but never wanting to miss a moment. Afraid that the whole thing will pass by too quickly, but afraid that THIS will last forever. Is it okay to love this and hate this all at the same time, she wonders? Is there anything better, and anything worse, than being someone's whole everything, she wonders? For her, it feels so hard to be here sometimes, because she's missing so much while she waits. And for her, it also feels so perfect sometimes too; soaking it all in, the movement of two bodies, who used to be one, breathing together in harmony again. And while she's in this in between, she feels like she's alone. But she's not. She never could be. She's joined by you. She's joined by me. She's joined by all of us. In the collective in between, of the highs and lows, the pain and the love, the complex and the simple. The sisterhood of motherhood. Who is she? She is all of us. We see her. We are her. We are not alone. You are never alone💜 | Image @aolanow |

There is no routine for newborns, follow her lead, she will guide you, feed on demand, rest when she sleeps, and most of all hold her close often. These days fly by fast so try your best to be present and soak up all the beauty that is the newborn haze 🤱🏾. Can you tell I know these days are numbered for me? 😭 My little angel is growing so fast and I’m not ready...2 months already 🤯 . #newbornhaze #newbornroutine #letthemleadtheway #feedondemand #slowpostpartum #bekindtoyourself #yougotthismama #cuddlethemoften

So wonderful to see this beautiful girl! Just over a year ago I had the privilege of caring for her mama during her Slow Postpartum. Since then we have connected with each other in different places around the world as our paths connect in NZ, Bali and Oxford. I feel so lucky that my work gives me these opportunities to meet and work with such inspirational people and their families. I’m excited to find out where Mykie and I will read our next story together!! 🥰 - - #slowpostpartum #travellingdoula #internationaldoula #postpartumdoula #postpartummaternalcarespecialist #postpartumsupport #thefirstfortydays #thegoldenmonth #caringfornewmothers #flyingdoula

Emerging into the world slowly, gently and tentatively following 30 days of complete rest. It feels wonderful, as though we are fully ready and im realising how much I've missed the simple beauty of nature and open space. There's also a new appreciation for the community and social hubs where i live. So now, i have my Sun in my arms. But i have been changed in other ways. Birth confirmed everything that i was shifting and processing in pregnancy. The pause of post partum has been just as, if not more, spiritually significant. Emotionally, it felt like i was put through the trenches on a daily basis, facing deep underlying insecurities and fears. Yet with the potency of post birth energy, i would be out again quite quickly, with a golden insight and feeling of lightness and clarity in my whole being. My perception has been washed clean and i have a strengthened confidence in my path as a mother, my somewhat radical values and my intuition. I am satisfied too that my birth experience has been integrated to a deep level of understanding, unravelling the threads of important moments and the lessons they carry. And that is only the tip of the iceberg of what this experience has brought! What a gift, and a testament to the importance of a slow, quiet and supported post partum. Stillness is not always easy and peaceful, but it is certainly a powerful teacher 🐝🌞💛

To the mummah of a newborn whether it be your 1st or 3rd A reminder that things will settle You may or may not miss your spouse. I dont ever remember missing my husband the first time around. We pissed each other off to much. It was constant bickering as we struggled to adjust and we did this for a real long time! but this time I desperately miss us and the little time we shared together at night, I'm constantly saying to my husband I cant wait till jaxon has a bedtime and theres an end in sight (at least for a few hours anyway) For whatever reason the stars and universe aligned today. Mother in law had both kids and he happened to have no work in! Yay We shared a good few hours together. It is true it's either me or the house and today, today I choose me. The mess will always be there and let's face it as soon as my 3 yr old comes back shes a tornado and will mess everything anyway! Some days are groundhog days and I think what's the point of cleaning anyway! Then a day passes and I end up cleaning double the amount 🤣 anyone relate? You do eventually get some time back and eventually your newborn will have a bedtime and ull choose to have 1 hr alone time instead of that extra hour of sleep. While I miss my alone time, while I'm still sleep deprived handling a very active toddler and a bub who is a bit unsettled and doesnt sleep. I need to remind myself of this aswell. Things will change and we will get some time again. #selfcare #motherhood #postpartumjourney #postpartum #slowpostpartum #slowliving #birth #pregancy #rawmotherhood

To all the mama’s up at 2am last night I feel you and remember you are not alone 🙋🏽‍♀️ I was up for 3 hours trying to get this little treasure to sleep and Miss Hali Blue will not even feed to sleep...yep I tried twice. Oh the irony in me, with my occupation, unable to get my baby to sleep is pretty hilarious. 🤯 All part of the lessons in experiencing everything raw and real to hopefully make me a better mama and practitioner. Here’s to a better day today hey 👌🏽 and if not then oh well...like @bybrittanynoonan said this morning “your having a shit day not a shit life”. . #littletreasure #nosleep #partyat2am #gothefucktosleep #imwithyoumama #notalone #slowpostpartum #themagicofchildhood #7weeksold

When I was pregnant with my last baby I really felt, from the moment we found out about the pregnancy, that it was a girl. We waited till birth to discover that fact, but I just...knew. At 36 weeks I was folding laundry and listening to a Beatles playlist on Spotify. A specific song I’ve known since I was a kid came on, I put the towel I was folding down and started to tear up as I sang along. I knew. I knew it was about her. And then, not too long after that moment...this moment. 🎶 I've just seen a face I can't forget the time or place Where we just met She's just the girl for me And I want all the world to see We've met, mm-mm-mm-m'mm-mm 🎶 Fallin', yes, I am fallin' And she keeps callin' Me back again 🎶 @alanna_farmer 📷

Brand new mama. You have done something incredible. You have grown a baby and you have birthed a baby (in whatever aspect that took). Now it is time for you to rest. Time to restore, recover and rejuvenate. Time to be nurtured, nourished and loved so that you can give the same to your baby from a full and overflowing cup.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Other cultures knew and understood this. That is why they set aside a period of time for the postpartum mother to be cared for. 'The Sitting Moon', 'The Golden Month', 'The Sacred Window'. It was known and understood by everyone in the community that the result of deep and focussed postpartum care would be a mother who was strong, healthy and happy in body and mind. A mother who felt confident to love, feed and care for her own baby who would in turn thrive. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There is no 'bouncing back' from birth. There is no going back to how you were before. And nor should there be. To do a #slowpostpartum is to instead nestle into this brave new world of motherhood. A journey that changes and transforms every part of you. You will never be the same as you were. Instead, you will be born into your new identity - like a phoenix out of the flames 🔥 🔥🔥. But until then - you need love, you need mothering, you need support, you need sleep and you need soup.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Who will support your #slowpostpartum so that you can be the mother you deserve to be? Love Jojo x ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #slowpostpartum #postpartum #slowpostpartumrevolution #postpartumrecovery #slowliving #postpartumplan #thefourthtrimester #thegoldenmonth #thesittingmoon #thesacredwindow #lifeafterbirth #caringfornewmothers #postpartumdoula #birth #pregnancy #newmother #thefirstfortydays #internationaldoula #londondoula #pregnantlondon #doulauk #travellingdoula #postpartumsupport #postnatal #postnataldoula

I am in absolutely no rush to get back into the outside world, and I’m not gonna put that pressure on her either. Right now, our focus is to stay in this newborn haze, let her slowly wake up from the womb, and to have as much skin to skin as possible. I’m giving us 4 weeks to stay home with minimal obligations, minimal guests, minimal outings. This is our quiet time to form our relationship with Echo and so far we are all in a peaceful sync. It’s harder to do this with a 5 yr old in tow, but I have lots of help with getting Sol out of the house. Loving every second of these new fresh mornings together. And PS. The Goddess Mug is only 16$ the whole month of August in my 20% off sale. No code needed! Ships September #mothersunandthecaptain #coffeemuglove #sacredpostpartum

Beautiful words by @lrknost ・・・ “Slow down, mama. Let go of the expectations. Let go of the need for perfection. Let go of the weight of other's opinions. Let go of the fears, the worries, the doubts. Look into the eyes of those tiny humans who love you so much and really see them. See the love. See the acceptance. See the wisdom. See the invitation to slow down and just be. Breathe, mama. Inhale peace. Exhale love. Smile, relax, and enjoy. You've got this.” L.R. Today you opted for the chair and table instead of your high chair. Confidently climbing up to sit beside your brother, a grin and a giggle displaying your satisfaction with the achievement. My baby; with every new trick, climbing, standing, eating, playing, growing- I am reminded we are nearing a new stage. You grew inside my body; connected physically so strongly there was not a second in those nine months where I forgot your presence. Days after you were conceived illness and aches set in. While people and tests thought I couldn’t possibly know- I did. My comfort as the illness and aches grew was knowing they were a sign you were holding on inside me. I always loved you, and hoped you felt that love as I struggled in so many ways to endure pregnancy. Then your birth, the multi dimensional power of us in labour and birth. The essence of generations of birthing women supporting us, the supernatural sensation of our God inviting us to take up our power. Our fourth trimester filled with warmth and support as you guided me gently to your needs. Countless hours laying beside you, holding you, feeding you. You showed us your self. Learning to smile- and rarely stopping. Sparkly eyes always looking back to me. Holding my finger, my hair, my face. Never a doubt I was who you wanted. We grew together, your birth and your being guiding me to shed and grow anew. Now, you’re so excited by your Dad’s presence- jumping from my arms to his. Stretching hours between breastfeeds. Pointing, standing, teasing, smiling, playing. I see your reliance on me lessening, your trust with others increasing. Seemingly endless feeding and holding replaced by games, stories and songs. I lay beside you, holding you, treasuring these final experiences of you as an infant fitting snuggly in my arms. I know this moment of us is fleeting in beauty and time. I give understanding to the desire to keep you small, I feel hope at the relationship we’l have as you grow, I remind myself that unknown is where we find beauty and learning. For now you are my baby, I breathe in this moment- of holding, of feeding, of loving.

Postpartum is such a fluidy time 💧💧💧. Of things swiftly and fluidly changing. Of flowing and leaking Breast milk, leaving my clothes constantly damp. Day and night melt into each other, becoming one and the same, awake and asleep for both. Soothing baths and showers, and footbaths from angelic visitors. Bowls of nourishing soups and broth and cups of healing herbal teas. Trickling blood for weeks on end. Getting sprayed with baby wee and not even caring. And then there's the tears, which come so easily, from simply being exhausted to frustration at not being able to do what I could before, to the immense joy at the sight of this newborn upon waking. Moods are unstable as having all seasons in one day. And oh the emotions ! Never have I felt so raw, open and vulnerable. What a misconception to think that I had any control over how I feel. Postpartum is the ultimate check in. And its an amazing opportunity to see, to listen and to be with all that is surfacing. All that is asking to be healed. At four and half weeks on for us, my body is still feeling fragile. Im not able to wear my baby yet or do basic errands that require bending over or using 2 hands. Im learning to be OK with that. 6 weeks was the initial timeline i was working with, but im starting to see that as a bare minimum. In this massive stage of transition, could we expect any different? So I'm going to remain here until I feel truly ready. I will go out and have already started to, but im keeping the postpartum protocols of maximum rest and nurturing, being over doing and a mindset of slow and gentle. And gratitude, for that is what is really carrying me through this intense phase, and all of the phases of motherhood to come 🙏💧 #slowpostpartum #postpartum #motheringthemother #healing #recovery #afterbirth #gratitude #thefirstfortydays #thefourthtrimester #woman #normalisebirth #normalisebreastfeeding

Courgettes (aka zucchini) are an ideal vegetable for a new mama. Soft, easily digested, delicious and nutritious. I blended this courgette soup with a dollop of pesto, a crumbling of feta and a splash of double cream. Topped with Greek yoghurt and delicately flavoured with garlic it’s the ideal comfort food for a new mama 🥰 Scroll across to see my two kitchen helpers 🐶 😍. - - #slowpostpartum #slowfood #slowliving #postpartumcook #postpartum #postpartumdoula #doulauk #internationaldoula #slowliving #wholefood #thefirstfortydays #thegoldenmonth #postnatal #postnatalcooking #whattodowithallthesefreakingcourgettes -

Captain ✨ He defies our culture’s gender role stereotypes. Since Baby Girl arrived, he has kept our house clean, done the laundry, cooked me nourishing meals, changed the diapers, kept baby on his chest, taken care of Soleil, the list goes on. He is so INVOLVED and playing all the roles. His appreciation of me and his emotional support helps me do my job as Mother with so much more ease and grace. @thegoodcaptainsb u are rocking fatherhood and husbandhood. Thank u for being the best damn teammate #hotdad #mothersunandthecaptain #slowpostpartum

Some days are just meant for rest. The first 40 days after birth are crucial to provide a good foundation for yourself and baby. An article from experiencelife.com says, "Mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, a woman begins the process of adjusting to this drastically new chapter in her life, whether this is her first baby or her fifth. By becoming a mother, she must shed an old identity and embrace a new piece of herself. This all takes time, space, and a deep acknowledgement of the significance of this moment in her life. Knowing what it is like struggling through postpartum depression and anxiety with our first daughter I'm really trying to make self care a priority this time around. . . . #timbersprouttoys #slowpostpartum #slowchildhood #slowliving #slowhealing #intentionalmotherhood #motherhoodunfiltered #motherhoodjourney #motherhoodsimplified #postpartumhealing #newmemberoffamily #rainbow🌈 #rainbowchild #rainbowstacker #balancetoy #thecalmafterthestorm #healthylivingmovement #healthyfamilies #restfulliving #taketimeforyourself #findyourbalance #knowbetterdobetter

Those eyes... 😍 #fiveweeksold. He has slept on my chest every single night since he was born, I have become a huge commitment phobe and rarely make plans anymore, many days are spent in bed until 11am and our PJs until 3pm, some weeks we haven’t left the house for days and meals consist of anything that takes less than two minutes to make with my one free arm (sometimes my 🥑doesn’t even make it onto my toast 🤣). - Things may sound less than perfect to everyone else, but it’s more than perfect for us and I’m soaking up every moment. 💛

Sleep deprivation it’s a whole new level... Mamahood is seriously the most selfless act. Here are a few ways to get through the day. . . + Get Dressed I know when you feel like a train wreck on the inside all you want to do is stay in your spew pjs and hide ... Have a shower (add peppermint or aroma touch to drops to the bottom of the shower for that shower diffuser), aromatic dress in your oils (my fav combo whisper, wild orange and ylang ylang), apply your lush face oil (if you don’t have anything I got you covered let me know) pop a dress on that makes you feel like a goddess (I use to love my spell maxis.. also they were BF friendly haha reality right)This can make you feel like a human being again, even if it only lasts for a few minutes. + Nap ok this one was something I really sucked at, I hated when someone said Sleep when the baby sleeps. Mainly I’m not a day sleeper but I’m here to tell you mastered the art of napping, it’s well worth learning!!! if your not a napper pop on a guided mediation either you will fall asleep or at least rested. + hydrate!!!!! Pop a few drops of lemon essential oil (doTERRA) to combat that brain fog and hydrate!!!!! + Business As Usual now I’m all for taking it easy especially when bub is teething if it’s possible to, just get on with your life. The more you focus on being tired, the more tired you feel. Grab your bestie or mama friend and get out in nature and move your body. + meditate did you know that 20 mins of meditation in the body feels like 4 hours sleep? yep go get it! + Eat nutrient rich food. Food is more than fuel for our bodies. It can nourish you deeply on an emotional and spiritual level. Food can make a huge difference to your energy and vitality. + Nature & Sunshine Embracing the cycles of night and day can help with your hormones when you are feeling ‘jet lagged’ from sleep deprivation. + Move your body what ever that looks like for you and your particular stage of postpartum. But literally you can get up and pop music on and dance, walk around the block, stretch and breathe. + Essential Oils Peppermint in the palms to breathe or under the tongue, diffuse delevation & spearmint, cheer as purefume

When we choose to prioritise deep and sustained rest over the postpartum weeks we gift our body & mind time to restore and rejuvenate from the effort of pregnancy and birth. This has many benefits. When we are well-rested we recover faster, enjoy more energy, reduce our stress levels and accelerate our healing. We also transition gently into our new role of mother. However, resting with a newborn is easier said than done. It needs others to support us on our journey. That is why, in many traditional cultures, a new mother is cared for during her postpartum by her community who gather around her to bring food and offer help with housework & childcare. In this way she can focus on what is truly important. Her health and her baby.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Who will support you during your #slowpostpartum? Do you feel confident asking for the help that you truly need and deserve so that you are able to focus on being the best mother for your baby? The truth is that a mother that is well-rested, nourished and nurtured is able to offer the same to her baby more easily from a full and overflowing cup.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you are pregnant and would like to find out more about my slow postpartum maternal support packages - visit my website. Just a girl and her placenta, saying a long goodbye before going their separate ways. 👋🏼 While some call it delayed cord clamping, we like to swap the word delayed with the word “optimal.” 💥 It is optimal for the placenta to come out on its own, without pulling or yanking or force. 💥 It’s optimal to help ease the transition from womb to world. 💥 It’s optimal for your baby to be connected to their original life source as long as possible, even if there is need to intervene with mom or baby. *Especially if* 💥 It is optimal for your baby to increase their blood volume by up to a third, receiving back what is theirs. 💥 It’s optimal for your baby’s iron stores to be positively impacted after birth. 💥 It is optimal to slow your postpartum period down and soak up these fleeting moments with this new little life. We aim to help you confidently do that. Encouraging these moments is one of the ways we love to help support you in that goal. Slow. Purposeful. Intentional. @alanna_farmer

This book is revolutionising the way that we do post partum in the West. For me personally, it has been my main guide and companion for this time following the birth of my son. With a focus on nutrition and traditional postpartum foods, The First Forty days has many recipes for foods and drinks that promote healing and rebuilding for the mother, as well as enrich breast milk. As my partner had 2 weeks off work, he has been busy in the kitchen feeding me with gems from this book. My recovery is going so well and and I attribute a lot of it to eating food that is healing me with every mouthful. Now that we are opening up to visitors and the massive gift of a meal train, I will continue with the methods through the prescribed herbal teas and snacks. In fact I can imagine eating in this way for my entire breastfeeding career! And yet, it's not just a recipe book. The First Forty days also covers topics like emotional wellbeing, why we need 40 days, anecdotes on after birth, protocols for visitors and building your support team. Although I have had a strong intuition about creating a slow postpartum, this book has given me permission to recieve support and remain in a restful state for the sacred window of 40 days. Thank you @motherbees for identifying the lack of support and ritual for new mum's, and for providing us with a map for navigating this time in a restful, supportive and healing way. Its giving us the best possible start to motherhood, and helping us to reach a state of full rejuvenation before getting back into life. I highly recommend for all pregnant women to get their hands on this book. Postpartum is worth planning for, just as much as birth, for it can be a make or break time for a harmonious motherhood journey. Pictured is my stock of yummy coconut haystacks, a nutrient dense that nourishes soul. @motherbees you would be proud to know that I asked a dear friend to prepare these for me 😊 Thank you @newviewfarmers for sending your darling Bec to support us in this incredible transition 🙏❤ #slowpostpartum #postpartum #motherhood #pregnancy #community #thefirstfortydays #motherbees #gratitude #blessings #healing #breastfeeding

When a baby is born so is the mother. And for some of us this transition and rite of passage can be more intense then the birth itself (hello mamas I’m sure you can relate) . . I witness women week after week preparing for their birth (which you should), reading book after book about their pregnancy (you even have apps that ping every time you baby in your womb grows to the size of the next fruit shape) But have you stopped and thought about mamahood? . . The answer is usually no, and that’s ok! I’m here to support, equip and nurture that. So as your newborn adjust to their new world, earthside. You know the importance of nurturing and nourishing you. . . The thought through many cultures is your first forty days is a reflection of your families next forty years. This is why I have become so passionate about the importance of this practice and time in a women’s life. It’s often overlooked and not supported which is often the seed for further disharmony in the future of mamahood. . . I have been crafting a workshop that introduces you to your forth trimester a time of rest, honouring the mama, nourishing practices, creating a nest within your home, why this is all so important for you and setting you up in Mamahood. . . DM me if you are a pregnant mama or new mama & please let your mama to be friends know. . . FYI the incredibly talented @thenamenest has just created mother blessing affirmation cards head over they are just stunning

5 Days Earthside ✨ For us both. We are slowly coming back down to Earth after birth. My body, my heart, my mind, and my soul have been cracked open. For her, she has to acclimate to the world outside of me. We are honoring both of our experiences by going super slow, staying super mellow, and gently easing into this peaceful new place without much stimulation. We are keeping her home and out of clothing for the most part. We are tightly swaddling her in the softest fabrics, as if she were still in the womb, and she sleeps so soundly because of it. We haven’t left her side for a moment. We are there when she wakes. I nurse her when she says she wants it, and all is well in our world. Today we created her name. We will share when we are ready. #mothersunandthecaptain #slowpostpartum #homebirthbaby

When did we become so busy? How did we allow every waking moment to be taken up? Why do we allow ourselves to be so overscheduled that even spending time with the people we love the most becomes a strategic operation planned weeks ahead? When did we start boasting about how busy we are as though it is something to be proud of? Why do we convince ourselves that we can multi-task, never focussing on one thing when we could juggle two or three at the same time? Why do we worship the cult of 'busy?'⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The thing is, we all have the same amount of time than we have always had. We just choose to fill it up with too much. Consider this. How much can you take away until you begin to feel the spaciousness and peace that you crave? What can you say no to in order to say yes to yourself? How would that feel?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I help the families that I work with to plan for a #slowpostpartum we discuss what their true values are. The things that are most important to them and the things that they are prepared to release in order to experience peace and joy with their new baby. We talk about the importance of saying no. And not always to things that you don't want to do. Sometimes we have to say no to things that we DO want to do. This takes courage but there is a greater vision in place. That of stretching time and prioritising the things and people that are truly important. - - That is to choose slow over busy 💖- - With love Jojo x⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #slowpostpartum #postpartum #slowpostpartumrevolution #postpartumrecovery #slowliving #postpartumplan #thefourthtrimester #thegoldenmonth #thesittingmoon #thesacredwindow #lifeafterbirth #caringfornewmothers #postpartumdoula #birth #pregnancy #newmother #thefirstfortydays #internationaldoula #londondoula #pregnantlondon #ukdoula #postnatal @postnataldoulauk #thecultofbusy #simpleliving

Bosom nectar. Chichi life force. Milk from the goddess. Titty crack. 1-5 million white blood cells per milliliter! The perfect meal. This is how I roll. Usually babe latched and someone else taking the opportunity to snuggle. Breastfeeding is not easy, it’s a massive commitment with a huge learning curve and all babies are different. Zeo only cares to nurse for sustenance, Zavier nursed for 18 months as often as he could. He would still nurse all day and night if I let him. He still tries and says “noose” “ noose” multiple times a day, laughing as he knows his time has past. We weaned during my third trimester. I felt that my body could not handle giving 2 children this divine essence because of my preexisting autoimmune challenges. It lasted for a while, almost 5 months but then I did start tandem nursing when Zavier was getting his molars and going through a rough patch. I tandem nursed for almost 2 months. Zavier wanted to latch way more than the baby. It was comfort, nourishment and a love sacrifice from my body. We are almost 3 weeks since he turned 2 and he isn’t requesting mama milk from the tap daily. He gets expressed milk with his plant milk. Personally, I loath pumping but I am a HUGE fan of my Haakaas. Part of me is grateful Zeo doesn’t want to use me as a constant pacifier but the other part craves this sacred bonding time and doesn’t want it to end. I support all Mamas no matter their journey. I feel very fortunate that I am a Breastfeeding mama, going 2 years strong with 2 strong boys. #breastfeeding #breastfeedingmama #worldbreastfeedingweek2019 #slowpostpartum #matrescence #postpartum #nursingmama #tandemnursing

I was up super early this morning to attend a workshop in Hendon for my level 2 fitness instructor certification!! ⠀ ⠀ My ultimate goal is to get certified to help women with pre- and postnatal fitness! I want to help you physically prepare for the demands of labour and recovery slowly and properly in the postnatal period. ⠀ ⠀ It’s going to take a bit of time to complete all my training, but watch this space! 😉⠀ ⠀ #pregnancyfitness #fitnesstraining #slowpostpartum

I asked this question on my stories yesterday and received this answer from @blackteawhitepages - I was keen to know what had changed for her to make her second postpartum experience so much more positive. This was her wonderful reply 🥰 - - “A mix of education, learning from my mistakes and doing my hatha/yin yoga teacher training. I was out doing too much, too many visitors (most who demanded baby cuddles amd did little to help us), not enough nourishing foods etc immediately after my first. It meant a lot of tears and complete exhaustion. I'd heard of the first 40 days so i researched extensively when i fell pregnant with my second child and fell down the rabbit hole as my yoga practice deepened. I set firm boundaries once the baby was born, asked those close to me to bring food rather than gifts, got my husband to take on the load around the house. It made all the difference!” - Slowing down, accepting support and planning your postpartum is so important and reaps beautiful rewards 💕💕💕- - #slowpostpartum #postpartum #postpartumplanning #thefirstfortydays #thegoldenmonth #postpartumcarespecialist #doula #ukdoula

Take a ride with this momma tonight! 🎠 Except instead of loud music, bright lights, uncertain children, and spinning horses, think more calming tunes, evening sunset, gentle movements, and breathing in stillness. So, nothing like a carousel ride at all actually. The only thing that’s the same as this picture is smiling Emeline. Did you know you can get weaning depression? Some Tips to help manage post weaning depression . . + Get regular exercise- exercises releases pleasure hormones. Extra points if you get outside for a walk or hike in nature or beside the beach. + Breathe & yoga classes - checking in with your body noticing how your breathing, allowing time to meditate or do a body scan helps lower stress levels. Classes can help support you to check in with your breath & your body. + Sleep- get into a regular sleep pattern going to bed and waking around the same times each day. Try switch off electronic devices 1-2hrs before bed & wearing @baxterblue_ glasses in the evening. Use salt lamps in the evening & turn your lights off. when rising in the morning try and get outside to ground your body and let the sunlight work it’s magic on your body. +Diet - caffeine or sugar can play havoc on your hormones. Regulating your hormones requires good fats such as avocado, nuts, seeds, good quality oils + Have fun with your inner child! Dance, move your body, laugh and have quality girlfriend lunch dates, get creative & do things that bring you joy + Cuddle, kiss and have organisms -incredible for boosting mood. + Talk to other breastfeeding mums that are weaning too, sometimes it helps to feel like your less alone on your journey or get advise off a mama that has gone through it + Slow down & be gentle on yourself and you bub + Contact PANDA or a professional service if your still not feeling 100% and need extra support it’s totally ok to ask for help! + Use your oils! My favourites that supported me - doTERRA Elevation Blend, doTERRA Womens Blend, doTERRA Cheer blend, Clary Sage, Ylang Ylang & doTERRA Whisper + Honour you! What a incredible & selfless act of service you have done. Celebrate you and your baby and the next chapter of your relationship. breastfeeding can be such a individual experience. But no matter the journey you mama have given your baby so much love and nourishment. This next stage of the journey might feel like the unknown but you are so supported, YOU GOT THIS !

Short visits from my tribe is helping this transition down south so much easier. Connection, conversation, laughter and nature play is what makes me glow. We are pack animals and need connection with our tribe. After years of living abroad and living day to day pregnancy and child birth has grounded me completely yet I find myself longing for adult connection, service and purpose. But my purpose is this...raising this amazing little human the best way I know how. This is how I serve, through Hali Blue making waves in this world. None of us get it right all the time and most of us struggle day to day but unfortunately “struggle” is almost “Taboo”. Emotions are our strongest quality as humans, we are literally born with our emotional brain and very minimal cognitive brain, we mustn’t be afraid of the light and dark waves emotion bring. I will continue to share my struggles and my reality of parenting, PND and my interpretation of life because honesty and reality is what lifts me up and makes me feel apart of something greater then I am. Take your masks off mama’s and be open to an even greater connection to others. Thank you so much to my tribe for always allowing me to be unapologetically who I am 🙏🏼 . 📸 @lulukatestyle . #natureplay #connection #packanimals #perinataldepression #panda #slowpostpartum #dunsboroughlife #southwestmums

Favourite time of day for my little Aquarius 🐠 Baby Abhyanga and a little nip sip in the tub is the perfect way to unwind the day 💕 . . . . . . . . #gratitude #grateful #happy #bliss #tiu #tiumama #tiupregnancy #pregnant #pregnancy #wellness #health #maternity #ayurveda #postpartum #digdownriseup #yoga #meditation #anxiety #selfcare #mother #motherhood #love #slowmotherhood #slowpostpartum #thefirstfortydays #newborn #staywild #remywild

Just a mama with her daughter (still sounds strange saying this) and a soft squishy belly 11 days postpartum. I’m so sentimental (a big softy now) that this is my last baby I want to hold onto the squish for as long as I can. I can’t believe this space grew, sustained and nourished two lives. Once upon a time I never wanted to have children and here I am with two, beyond grateful is understatement. After this pregnancy I have a bigger love, respect and appreciation for my body. I can look in the mirror and love what I see which didn’t happen after River and is so much more important now I have a daughter. There is no rush to exercise or find the body I didn’t loose, just to strengthen the core and close the two and half finger abdominal gap I have. Who else loves their squishy post baby belly? #11dayspostpartum #postpartum #slowpostpartum #postpartumbelly #newborn #11daysold #lovetheskinyourein #lunaheart #plantpowered #veganmum #sentimental #bigsofty

There will always be something 'to do'. Our list is never-ending. Sometimes, however, the most important thing on your to-do list should be to lovingly listen to the yearning of your body and give it what is so desperately needs. Time to stop. Time to rest. Time to be slow.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Then watch the benefits ripple outwards to your baby, your family and the world. Mama - All I’ve ever wanted to be called. A year ago today, my heart ached so badly, I wasn’t sure how many more Mother’s Days I could go through without a babe of my own. Hanging onto hope, and not knowing that in one weeks time, this little man would come through and stay 💕 I know how hard this day can be and so if you are fighting to stay above water today, I see you. My whole heart feels you. If we can get here, you can get here. To my men who made me MAMA Remy Wild, and my forever man @tonybertoia life has never been, will never be as sweet as it is with you. You two are my world. Love, Mama PS when Remy is sad and nothing will calm him, we play this song on repeat and he falls asleep.
