You see many boxers and MMA fighters and gymnast perform them in their training and it still stands as one of the best core builders there is from both a strength and hypertrophy standpoint. In other words, if you want your core strong as hell and you want to develop blocks of abs, ab rollouts are the way to go along with a sound diet and training protocol. Starting from a standing position holding the roller on the ground right in front of your toes, squeeze your glutes and maintain a hollow body position as you roll forward slowly and controlled. As you lengthen your body, you significantly increase the amount of resistance placed on your body, specifically your core, to not let you collapse to the ground. You alter the leverage points and your core has to hold you up. This stresses near all aspects of your core but specifically your transverse abdominals and when you roll back in, you're rectus abdominals are getting a massive contraction. This may seem extremely challenging, and it is, but you can actually make the exercise significantly easier by reducing the distance travelled and/or going in your knees instead of your feet. This exercise can literally be done anywhere and I've seen people do it with office chairs. I would do about 3 to 4 sets of your max reps but adjust everything to your fitness level. . SYMMETRY doesn’t exist. We all have a dominant side and minor strength & muscle imbalances. It’s normal. . HOWEVER, If your training is highly unbalanced, you could be feeding into these natural asymmetries and putting yourself at risk of injury. It’s very common amongst gym goers and a dominant reason why aches, pains, stiff joints and tight muscles are ‘the norm’. . 3️⃣ things you can do to prevent this happening: . 1️⃣ Base your training on movement patterns NOT individual muscle groups. . 📝 Squat, Hinge, Lunge/Split Stance, Upper Push, Upper Pull (Horizontal & Vertical plane). . Exercises from these categories should form the base of your training. Isolation work should be sprinkled in secondary to this. . 2️⃣ Do plenty of core, hip and shoulder stability work. . 📝 For the core, don’t forget any of the 3 primary categories: anti-extension, anti-lateral flexion, anti-rotations. For the shoulders, go to town on external rotation work, lower trap work and scapula / rotator cuff stability drills. For the hips, do some work for your hip flexors, lateral glutes (abductors) and inside leg (adductors) ... these muscles tend to get neglected. . 3️⃣ Program unilateral and offset loading periodically. . 📝 If you’re married to the Barbell, you may be favoring your dominant side. Using Dumbbells forces both sides of your body to work independently. Program lots of single leg and single arm exercises like split squats, lateral lunges, single arm press and single arm rows. Alternating presses are fantastic also. Offset loading is another method that provides unique challenges to one side of the body. . Helpful post? Questions? 9pm. Friday night. Last man standing.... . Getting in shape is a very SIMPLE process. . Notice I said ‘simple’ not ‘easy’. . The hard part is being incredibly disciplined. . 🔹Training consistently. Sticking to your plan. Always finding the time to train and never making excuses (unless you’re sick of course) . 🔹Putting 💯 focus into your training so it’s actually effective. Not just going through the motions. . 🔹Prioritizing your sleep and getting to bed EARLY. Not binge watching Netflix til midnight or going out drinking every Friday night. . 🔹Eating a balanced diet and being 90% compliant with good food choices. . To get in your best shape, work on your habits. ONE at a time. Don’t overhaul your entire lifestyle. . START with your #1 limiting factor. That ONE thing holding you back more than anything. . ᴀɴᴢᴇɪɢᴇ I love traveling but it’s always great coming back home 👊🏻🔥. Einen tollen Start in die Woche 🙌🏻. Das Wochenende war mal wieder ein hammer Trip mit der Foodspring Crew und ich freue mich schon, wenn wir uns in wenigen Wochen alle wieder sehen! Zu Hause steht aber auch viel an und Langeweile kommt da definitiv nicht auf! Das Training geht auch direkt weiter, denn in 4 Wochen steht die nächste Hyrox Runde an 😆. Bis dahin kann ich hoffentlich noch ein bisschen an meiner Ausdauer arbeiten 💪🏻. Habt einen tollen Montag meine Lieben ✌🏻.
