heyyy 👋 i wasn’t completely recovered from my last leg day to lift today so I decided an at-home HIIT sesh would suffice!! Love it! I got home and my Tropical Strawberry shake mix arrived. If anyone had asked me a couple years ago to try a vegan protein shake, I would have laughed at them. Now I can not imagine going without them. Everyone who has small children knows how many colds can go through your house in a year. Well I use to catch every single one of them. 🤮 Not anymore. 💃💃 I'm not saying I never get sick, but I sure don't get sick like I use to. And no where near as often. Today's eats: every meal today (besides lunch) was kinda rushed. Breakfast: 4 gg's topped with 1% cottage cheese, chopped tomatoes, pepperoni & #ebtbs, then broiled in the oven Lunch: 2 cups romaine, 1.5 cups @f_factor chopped veggie salad, topped w/ 4 oz salmon sprinkled w/ s&p & paprika & 2 tbsp tzatziki sauce Snack: gg pizzas Dinner: had a whole other meal planned, but ran out of time and made a veggie scramble, threw on some red-fat mexican cheese & sprinkled w/ no salt fajita seasoning. Served with a mission whole wheat low carb tortilla (10 g fiber, 2 net carbs!) Wheat Pasta (regular) is generally a healthy food, but we end up eating too much of it and with cheese, it turns out to be very high on calories. Also, wheat pasta doesn't have much protein in it and higher in carbs. Generally, it's better to go for food items that have more protein. Higher protein the better. These pastas taste just as yummy as wheat pasta. Go easy on cheese to prevent increasing calories per serving. Most processed foods have healthier alternatives, if we look. SDSS (Smart Diet Solutions Sunday) "even the Lord took a day off" edition.  I did eat this on Sunday which I now know was Australia Day. My excuse is that I was honoring the day by not working and instead throwing some shrimp on the barbie like a good Australian would. Australia Day marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales, and the raising of the Flag of Great Britain at Sydney Cove by Governor Arthur Phillip. This holiday is what would happen if the American Columbus Day (which celebrates when Christopher Columbus arrived to kill all the natives - it occurs in autumn) mixed with ‪the 4th of July‬. (A day of national pride and happens in the summer). Yay Australia day! Much like the great governor Arthur Philip, this bar came across the planet on a large vessel. Unlike him, it didn’t turn my home into a new territory made mostly of criminals before I killed it. This is a whey bar with bits of coconut in it.  You can't really taste them but the base is good enough that the bar still manages to be tasty.  LIke the others, the base is good, milky, and mild, and the coconut is natural. I detect no artificial coconut flavorings in the base which is nice but also means this tastes very similar to their plain bar. Desventajas de los alimentos transgénicos No obstante, frente a los tan atractivos beneficios de los alimentos transgénicos, también hay que hablar de los inconvenientes. Así, entre los inconvenientes de los alimentos transgénicos encontramos los siguientes: Posibles efectos negativos en la salud a largo plazo La principal desventaja del uso de estos alimentos es la verdadera y completa ignorancia que se tiene sobre sus efectos a largo plazo. El problema que presentan estos alimentos es que, del mismo modo que se modifican una serie de características haciendo uso de los transgenes, cabe la posibilidad de que también se modifiquen otros elementos con los que se había contado en un principio. De hecho, cada vez se es más consciencia de la gran potencia que tienen algunos genes. Esto significa que, del mismo modo que cambiar un gen en un tomate puede convertirlo en más resistente a las sequías, también puede hacer pierda parte de su concentración de nutrientes, producir enzimas concretas que favorezcan la acumulación de líquido, etc. Posible relación con el desarrollo de enfermedades Esto no significa que los alimentos transgénicos deban conllevar siempre este tipo de “daños colaterales”, pero la realidad es que, desconocemos hasta qué nivel la modificación de unos genes concretos afecta solo a unas características determinadas del alimento en cuestión. Es más, actualmente, cada vez son más las voces del entorno científico que afirman que existe una relación entre el consumo de alimentos transgénicos y el desarrollo de alergias, intolerancias y enfermedades autoinmunes en el caso de los seres humanos, lo que vendría a confirmar que los efectos secundarios del consumo de alimentos transgénicos constituyen un campo que todavía escapa a nuestro control. Invasión de ecosistemas Por otro lado, más allá de los inconvenientes relacionados con la salud, existe otro gran problema que presenta el uso de alimentos modificados genéticamente, y es su relación con los alimentos naturales. El problema surge cuando se reproducen sin control por parte del agricultor, ya que invaden el resto de los ecosistemas.

I live Siggi’s! Such a convenient, nutrition-packed snack. I consider their yogurt a staple for several reasons: packed with protein (13-15g per single serve), little sugar (vanilla only has 5 added grams), versatile, a good source of calcium (for them 🦴s), and live active cultures for that healthy gut. Oh and it’s an easy peezy option for packed lunches. Here I have the strawberry flavor with TJs granola and sugar-free PB.

Qué son los alimentos transgénicos ¿Qué es "transgénico"? ¿Qué significa que un alimento lo sea? Bien, ante estas dudas y antes de entrar en temas de ventajas e inconvenientes, queremos aclarar que los alimentos transgénicos, también llamados alimentos genéticamente modificados, son alimentos a los que se les ha modificado el ADN en su primera etapa para favorecer unas características u otras durante el crecimiento. Esto se hace combinando ADN de dos especies diferentes, uno será el alimento que se modificará, y el otro el que “donará” los genes que van a ser transferidos al primero, que se denominarán transgenes. El proceso por el cual se lleva a cabo se realiza en laboratorio mediante ingeniería genética. Si tomamos el tomate como ejemplo de alimento transgénico, el proceso resumido sería el siguiente: Se extraería el núcleo de una célula del tomate, de donde se extraería después los cromosomas del interior del núcleo (que son la forma en la que se organiza el ADN) y, finalmente, se obtendría el ADN del tomate original. Además, se realizaría este mismo proceso con una planta que sería la donante del ADN transgénico (por ejemplo un cactus, que soporta muy bien las sequías). Después se seleccionarían los genes del cactus que hacen que soporte bien la ausencia de lluvias, se cortarían y se aislarían (ya tendríamos los transgenes). A continuación, se cortaría el ADN del tomate original y, en ese hueco, se insertarían los transgenes del cactus que hacen que resista bien las sequías. Se unirían todas las partes y el resultado sería un tomate que resista muy bien la falta de agua. Finalmente, ese ADN de tomate transgénico se introduciría en una semilla de tomate original a la que previamente se le haya sacado el ADN original y, al plantar esa semilla, el resultado sería una planta de tomate transgénico muy resistente a la falta de agua.

If you want to build muscle, first of all you need to stimulate the protein synthesis process. That is done while working out. Than proteins are needed so the damaged muscles from the workout will he repaired. A slight calorie surplus is also recommended. If you think about it logically, if the muscles contain mostly proteins (after water), than you have to eat proteins so the muscle can grow (because it is built from proteins). If you have expectation of your muscle to be in their full potential, than feed them properly, don’t be selfish. Making all your daily meals protein rich is one way to go. Try to add some meat, a coop of whey or some greek yogurt and there you go. A protein snack/meal created all by yourself. 😉

BBQ chicken: Cook chicken, shred with fork. Next, add 1/2 cup BBQ sauce and mix. Add to Romaine Lettuce cups, add onion + tomato. ⠀ ⠀ 3️⃣🌽CHICKEN STIR-FRY Chicken grilled with BBQ rub + 1/2 avocado with red pepper flakes + grilled corn on the cob + grilled veggies with olive oil and Italian seasoning. Such a wholesome and delicious meal! ⠀ ⠀ 4️⃣ 🍠NACHOS SALAD Sweet potato nachos with salsa! Slice 2 sp, add 1 tsp of oil then cook.
