The primary role of carbohydrates in the diet is the provision of energy to cells, particularly the brain as it requires glucose for metabolism.⁣ ⁣ Currently there are no established upper limits for carbohydrate consumption. Which is great as carbs are probably the most prevalent macronutrient of all.⁣ ⁣ Some sources of which include:⁣ ⁣ 🍑 fruits⁣ 🍞 breads⁣ 🍚 rice and grains⁣ ⁣ Now where you choose to get the bulk of your carbs from will very much come down to personal preference. I would personally try and get a variety of all in, whether that’s daily or over the course of the week, I’m not too fussed.⁣ ⁣ Knowing that carbs are directly responsible for cognitive function it makes a whole lot of sense to eat an abundance of them. Because I am only putting a yolk (yolk and 1/2, it depends) and 4 whites plus whipping it before to throw it into a frying pan I manage to get this egg burrito that you can roll in a paper and grab to take away. You will get a sensation of repletion without feeling heavy which is important to get a fresh light start in the morning! More especially when you want to train in the morning (in that case I would add an extra portion of sweet potatoes on the side 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽 Calories total: 450 kcal Proteins: 46g Carbs: 25g Fat: 18g Trans fat: 5g Fiber: 3g Regarding of what you want to achieve it’s possible to make this recipe lower in fat or higher in protein. Persimmons! Who’s had this fruit before? I’d never tried it until this morning and I’m already a fan. Life is a marathon not a sprint. 🏃🏻‍♀️✨ After a day spent high on caffeine and sugar to the delight of my colleagues (I might have turned the office into an 80ies disco) I crashed in the evening. I didn’t even realise it until I went to bed and noticed that my heart was beating faster than it should and I struggled to sleep. Instead I picked up @gelongthubten ‘s book ‘A monk’s guide to happiness’ and started reading. In chapter three he discusses stress in the 21st century and there we have it black on white: Without realising, I’ve been living a day of “fight or flight” in what, putting things in context, has been a stressful week. It’s all making sense to me now: Why I overslept as my body craved 9h sleep. Why I overdosed on sugar and caffeine to compensate for the cortisol inflicted exhaustion. So what is there to be done? I don’t think I can get rid of the factors that cause me to be stressed right now but I certainly can change my response. Work on my resilience and give myself breathing space. Stop “borrowing energy from tomorrow”. Stop cheating my body into keeping going when it really just needs a break.
