It’s been a while since we’ve had a food photo on the grid! Mostly because my food consumption of late could be described as ‘toddler let loose in sweetie shop meets marathon carb loading phase’ I’m not saying that my clothes are too tight (technically they are, they’re Lycra) but the more likely scenario is that fairies are sneaking into my wardrobe when I’m not looking and replacing all my clothes with smaller versions 🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyway, dinner was super good. I love super easy & quick dinners 🙌 Last night I made chicken meat balls with mixed vegetables in a tomato based sauce! The meatballs were just made with chicken mince, fresh parsley, mixed herbs, ground paprika, salt and pepper... Fructose is most commonly found in fruits, vegetables, and is combined with glucose to make sucrose (table sugar). Fructose is also found in high fructose corn syrup and has become the scapegoat for our obesity epidemic. . Fructose is converted to glucose in the liver and over consumption can be an issue (just like anything else). Although, appropriate intake of fructose can have some benefits to human health and performance. . Fructose has been shown to increase body temperature which may increase metabolism. Also, athletes may benefit from fructose taken in a 2:1 ratio (2 glucose: 1 fructose) during, or immediately surrounding activity as it provides an additional source for energy within the body. . According to the literature, activity can reduce some of the risk associated with over consumption as well by increasing metabolism. Additionally, fructose intake from fruit does not seem to have the same risk as consuming too many added sugars. This difference in risk could be due to a difference in glucose:fructose ratios in some added sugars when over-consumed, but not likely fructose alone. . Researchers looked at a diet of mainly fruit with ~200g of fructose a day (8 cans of soda worth) for 12-24 weeks and data reported no adverse effects to body weight, blood pressure, insulin, and lipid levels. . Bottom line, fructose itself is not bad for you. In fact, your body prefers it for energy. Emma Roo is affectionately known as my fizz/protein thief 🤪 but if I don’t initially share mine with her she boldly reminds me how sharing is caring and how can I say no to that?! Obviously I feel great sharing my shakes with her because of the plant based ingredients and all of the vitamins and minerals that it has plus it is delicious, so she’s happy! Emma’s favorite shake is just almond milk, arbonne protein (her fav flavor is the chai or as she calls it “hot tamale protein”) and ice! Perfect for an on the go snack or lunch by the pool ☀️

If you ask me what’s the one thing from your childhood that brings you the MOST comfort- it’s this. WINTER MELON + PORK RIB SOUP. So simple. As a kid and into my early college years, I had tons of stomach troubles. The majority of them I’m sure caused by not only years of eating processed foods but also anxiety. I would make myself sick to the point I could not eat anything. The nausea, cramping, pain were terrible and not so far off from how my anxiety plays out today. Of course then, I didn’t know it was anxiety, but what I did know was that this was my medicine. It was the only thing that was soothing and after 1-2 meals of this, I was on the track to gaining back the energy and appetite I needed to put me back on track. Back then, my grandmother would make it, but I’m having to learn to do these things for myself now since she is getting older (90’s and still going). ... ... This was my first attempt, I added more medicinals- ginseng for energy, goji for my anxiety and job’s tears (type of barley) for joint paint, and dried longan fruit for added minerals like magnesium, iron, and potassium. It came out so nicely, but most importantly, still gave me the what I needed to feel just a little better the next day to continue to keep nourishing myself. ... ... This is why turn to food and I have such appreciation for it. It treats the problem at the very root. I am in one of my foodservice rotations at The Grill at 1810 on Ole Miss’ campus right now and wanted to share some pictures!! This dining facility is partnered with Ole Miss athletics and I love how they incorporate sports into the food stations! •3 Point Line for breakfast had eggs, pancakes, cheese and regular grits, potatoes, and oatmeal •Home Plate for breakfast has regular and turkey bacon, ham, fried chicken nuggets, biscuits, and southern gravy •World Cup for breakfast was some blueberry scones •End Zone Grill for breakfast was a personalized omelet/egg station •Home Plate for lunch was fried chicken, steamed broccoli, and Mac & cheese •3 Point Line for lunch was creole cod, squash, and red beans & rice •World Cup for lunch was blueberry scones & yeast rolls •Exhibition Match for lunch was chocolate chip cookies The staff at this facility is so hard working & welcoming, not only to me, but to every person that walks through the door, athlete or not! Learning a lot while having fun flipping some pancakes in the process 🥞👩🏻‍🍳

🍴Para la picada: GARBANZOS ESPECIADOS AL HORNO🍴 Ingredientes: 🔶1 bote de garbanzos cocidos al natural, 🔶 2 cucharadas de aceite de oliva virgen extra, 🔶 1 y ½ cucharaditas de pimentón dulce, 🔶 1/2 cucharadita de pimentón picante, 🔶 1 cucharadita de comino molido, 🔶 1/2 cucharadita de cúrcuma molida, pimienta negra, sal. Procedimiento: Precalentar el horno a 180ºC y preparar una bandeja. Escurrir bien los garbanzos, enjuagándolos varias veces con agua para retirar el sabor del líquido de conserva. Secarlos ligeramente con papel de cocina. Batir en un cuenco el aceite de oliva con las especias y salpimentar. Disponer los garbanzos en una fuente, añadir el aliño y mezclar bien, con suavidad. Extender en una capa los garbanzos sobre la bandeja de horno. Hornear durante unos 40-50 minutos, removiendo un poco cada 10-15 minutos, hasta que estén bien dorados pero sin quemarse. Gran parte de tu adicción existe gracias a la industria alimentaria y a su creación por productos altamente adictivos para el paladar y diseñados para que tu cuerpo quiera y necesite mas de ellos. Cada que consumes alimentos procesados suceden alteraciones bioquímicas en tu cerebro y elevas tu dependencia a estos. Y, aunque la adicción por azúcar también puede ser parte de un mal manejo de emociones, una gran parte de su dependencia se debe a lo que ocurre en tu cerebro y en los receptores de tus papilas gustativas. A lo mejor, nunca has logrado terminar una dieta o llegar a tu peso ideal porque has estado en dietas donde no se han eliminado los alimentos procesados. Y es que, por lógica, no puedes darle poquita cocaina a alguien con adicción a las drogas para que las deje. Consistency is K E Y. Are you constantly taking one step forward and two steps back. Crushing your goals during the week, but throwing them out the window every weekend?! If you can’t be consistent in your method, then you will never see results. People love to blame a diet for not working, when in reality they did not put in the work. Be honest, you know if you lose your mind on the food and drinks every weekend. You know if you put in 100% effort into your workouts. No one is going to snap their fingers and place you at your end point. Eating whole foods, working out, sleeping well and most importantly being in a caloric deficit are the things that you should focus on. IF all of those things are taken care of then you can look into supplements to help you out a bit . Most of the stuff that you see marketed as “fat loss supplements” will be a waste of your money. Seriously don’t even bother with them 👎🏼 . Caffeine can boost your energy a bit so that you get a better workout in. A simple preworkout or coffee can give you that . A protein supplement can give you some extra protein that you might be lacking. Aim for a very high % of protein (over 90%) so that you keep the cals low . You don’t need a multivitamin but if you are sustaining a caloric deficit and you feel like your diet is lacking in some areas a good multi will ensure that all your bases are covered . ➰ Pasta jambon cru et petits pois ➰ Petit plat du midi, en suivant l’envie du moment 😋. On a dans l’assiette 🍴 120 gr de tagliatelles 💕 60 gr de petits pois cuits 💕 du parmesan 💕 sel 💕 jambon cru 🍴possibilité d’ajouter pour que ce soit moins secs : un peu d’eau des pâtes ou un peu de crème ou du Pesto ! Et même un petit oignon ! 😉 Il n’y a pas plus basique 🤗. Bon appétit 😋

Siempre tuve dos chocolates favoritos: Prestigio y After Eight 🤤 hasta que llegó el minuto en que indagué en sus ingredientes y ya no podía comérmelos tan feliz como antes🙈 . Cuando tenía ganas los comía igual😋 (darse gustitos es parte de la vida✨), pero ahora que tengo la fórmula secreta para hacerlos en la casa y con ingredientes conocidos, esa sensación media amarga se acabó🙅🏽‍♀️♥️ . Exquisitos, naturales y facilísimos!🌟 No son bajos en calorías pero sabemos lo que estamos comiendo!🙌🏼 . 💟Esta receta es para 11 barritas tipo prestigio y cada una aporta 180 calorías aprox. 🕐15-20 minutos + 1-2 hrs congelador . 💥Ingredientes: - 2 tazas de coco rallado - 1/2 taza de crema de coco - 1/4 taza alulosa @biofoodschile - 200 gr chocolate <60% cacao . 💥Preparación: 1. Mezclar el coco rallado, el endulzante/azúcar y la crema de coco, hasta obtener una pasta semi sólida moldeable. 2. Ponerla en un molde con papel mantequilla u otro. Apretar bien la mezcla y dejar del grosor deseado. 3. Congelar por 1 a 2 horas. 4. Derretir el chocolate (baño maría o en microondas a intervalos). TIP: En estos casos es mejor ir haciendolo a baño maría para que no pierda calor. 5. Sacar las barritas del congelador, cortarlas y bañarlas en chocolate. 6. Dejarlas en una bandeja con papel mantequilla o silicona y refrigerar unos 10 minutos. 7. Mantener refrigeradas. . ✨REEMPLAZOS: 👉🏼La alulosa se puede reemplazar por tagatosa (no vegana) o por algún tipo de azúcar (en el doble de la cantidad indicada, esto también aportaría más calorías). Otros endulzantes en polvo ver equivalencias. 👉🏼Si no encuentran crema de coco pueden usar leche de coco también. La refrigeran una media hora y sin moverla la abren. Se concentra arriba la crema de coco y abajo queda agua (o “el suero”). .
