Email your coach for ideas!! •Support from a friend or family member is KEY ~ communicate to them what your goals for the evening are. •Eat before the event, never arrive famished. •Wear a small reminder of your commitment to your health and goals!! A piece of jewelry or an outfit you feel AMAZING in will keep your goals fresh in mind. •Avoid mingling near food stations. Out of sight = Out of mind 🙈 •Eat mindfully. Fitting 'THIS' part of your life around your career, kids, life in general might seem impossible. Reality is it really isn't iMPOSSIBLE, we are hiding behind an excuse here. I work with some of the busiest ladies who have all sorts of road blocks that 'could' get in the way. In fact I don't have a single lady on my team that has time to sit and twiddle her thumbs, us ladies just don't live our lives like that anymore. The problem comes when we either genuinely believe we cant fit it in or when we are using this reason as an excuse. You may think getting in shape will be impossible for you, maybe you think preparing food will take ages or exercise will eat into your 'down' time. Trust me on this, fat loss is not time consuming but it could become time consuming if you fanny around trying to do a diet that has a rigid structure. This is NO GOOD, if you are a busy lady you need your fat loss structure to be created around YOU and your life to include weekly flexibility. This is when we can save a hell of a lot of time. A prime example, having your own fat loss structure means that everything is flexible. Your volume of training. Meal structure based on time availability. Restaurant guidance if you are a social butterfly or always on work lunches. These are just three of the factors I adjust and work around with every lady I coach. This means they can get on with their life whilst giving realistic time to their journey whilst banking week on week results. If your busy invest in a personalised approach instead of trying to follow someone else's 'rigid' diet structure. This is my gym set up, an empty room and a computer. I HATE going to the gym and everybody knows it. Working out at home has been exactly what I needed. I find different videos each day so I don't get bored and I'm much more consistent since I don't have to actually leave my house. I never realized how important it was to me to be able to make an impact on someone’s life. I’ve always loved helping others, but didn’t know how I could actually do it. I’ve created my virtual fit club so women would have a place of support. A simple place to cheer each other on, feel encouraged and hold themselves accountable. A safe and nonjudgmental platform where anyone can feel welcome. Technology and social platforms can be powerful when used in the right way and I'm loving the chance to be able to create this for the members of Team Happy at Heart❤️

With everything going on the last two weeks, I haven’t worked out. I miss it. I really do. So today I decided to take some time for self-care and pulled out my mat because my body needed a good yoga stretch sesh and I need to work on stress management. This past week has been a wake up call. I need to practice better stress management and find ways to be active when I can’t go to the gym. So I start today. I am not waiting for the new year and new decade. I start today by planning yoga and personal growth into my week. I start today by speaking life and grace over myself. How often have you thought you’d understood the whole picture, but subsequently found out that your perspective was one-sided and you’d missed something? Red Teaming could help. Red Teaming came about during the Cold War as a way of looking from the enemy's perspective. It was used to get a second team of people to put themselves in the position of the enemy (think of it as a form of method acting, or of walking in the shoes of the competitor or enemy) in order to think through less obvious and unanticipated scenarios that could then be planned for. “By employing a red team, institutions can get a fresh and alternative perspective on how they do things.” Micah Zenko, author of ‘Red Team: How to succeed by thinking like the enemy’. It works because it forces alternative perspectives to be considered. When done intentionally it provides a great way to legitimately challenge assumptions, check logic, test ideas, reduce surprises and guard again human bias. It’s successful because it helps prevent us from overlooking problems, missing the gaps or being blinded by our bias or false assumptions. And if we can’t get our own red team looking at what we’re working on, perhaps the very least we can do is call on one or two others to rigorously look at our ideas and interrogate them for us? .

This week has been a really hard one, my poor Pips has been so very unwell and had a hospital visit. It been frightening BUT today we’ve turned a corner and it feels such a blinking relief. Something that I’ve noticed which seems pathetic to most though is I haven’t eaten my emotions, something I’ve battled for years with. I’ve been total shattered but this morning knowing Pips is stronger again I chucked on my trainers and went to a CrossFit lite session and I know that actually getting myself moving and doing exercise has become my support system mentally now rather than food. Setting boundaries can be HARD 👏🏼WORK 👏🏼. As recovering people-pleasers, we’ve spent a lifetime thinking that we are only lovable when we accommodate others, meet their needs, and do it all with a smile. ⠀ ⠀ When we set healthy boundaries, it fires up our nervous systems. Kicking food cravings can feel like the hardest part of sticking with a healthy living plan. Foods that are loaded with sugar and fast acting carbohydrates are not only addictive, they keep you craving more because they trigger feel good hormones like serotonin and dopamine, and give only temporary satisfaction. Food cravings may also be attributed to long standing food habits that you’ve had since you were young. For example, “treating yourself” to ice cream, desserts and junk food as a reward. This is a learned behavior many of us have around food, so the work is really around rewiring our brain to ditch and create new habits that fuel our health and mindset. Here are some tips to try when food cravings kick in: . -Create a new habit like going for a walk, stretching, or turning music on to change your state and bring awareness to a new activity.⠀ - Eat some good quality fat. Grab some avocado with sea salt, or a handful of nuts or seeds which are loaded with fiber and omega fats will help curb cravings, and will give you more energy than sugar⠀ - Reach for high fiber veggies to snack on. Raw jicama, celery, carrots, and chicory are some of my go-to’s which are also great for digestion, and gut health.⠀ - Add some fat to your tea or water. Coconut or MCT oil is great for metabolic health and fueling your brain and body with energy. I love adding a teaspoon to hot water with a tablespoon of cocoa powder and a drop or two of stevia. This is a great swap for sweets. Unlike sugar and carbs, coconut oil does not produce an insulin spike in your bloodstream. My focus was on breaking the habit of being my "old self" while creating who I desired to be! This journey has been far from smooth, but it has been totally liberating! I was well over 300lbs in the picture on the left. The doctor told me that I would have knee replacement and hip replacement surgery by the time I was 40 due to the pressure I was placing on my body! The doctor also recommended weight-loss surgery as an "option"! I told the doctor, "nah, I'll figure it out"! Here I am at 38, feeling amazing and loving that I KNOW I have the ability to change my body without any medical intervention. Don't allow anyone to tell you what you can and cannot do.
