Do you even mobilise & stretch though? Confession- i didn’t when I first started training 🤦🏼‍♀️. Partly because I was worried I’d get too flexible due to my Ehlers danlos, partly cos I was worried I’d look like a dork & partly because I was time poor and thought I should make every second count by spending the whole time lifting. How wrong I was. Activations & mobilisations are 🔑 to switching on the muscle you’re training, making the mind muscle connection & effectively warming up the body by placing it through movements required by the exercise. Stretching can prevent the dreaded DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). These things combined deliver a better performance. So if you think they’re a waste of time, consider being able to squat deeper, lunge more stably, get greater gains on your back session etc. And if your form on deadlifts, thrusts, squats, lunges etc is good but you’re feeling lower back pain- press your thumbs deep into your glutes. If you yelp & hit the ceiling, your glutes are too tight. Activations/mobilisations & stretches. Monday Motivation 👊⁣ ⁣ Give this lower body, upper body 🦵💪strength super set a blast 🏋🏻‍♂️ Well technically it's not a super set it's peripheral heart rate training if you're asking but who cares it's tough and it gets you going. ⁣ ⁣ 1. DB Front Lunges ⁣ ⁣ +⁣ ⁣ 2. Weighted Pull Ups⁣ ⁣ Top tips:⁣ ⁣ Racking DBs in front makes the core work hard. But alternatively you could hold by your side. ⁣ ⁣ If you can't do pull ups, use assisted pull up machine or a resistance band or perform negatives. 🔺️1️⃣st video is the hex bar traditional deadlift which is good for building the booty it mainly focuses on gluteus maximus . 🔺️2️⃣nd video is a superset of traditional deadlift and Romanian hex bar deadlift which is great for quadriceps and hamstrings. 🔺️ Both of these deadlifts are amazing for building your bottom half but also activate and use a lot of muscle groups difference are the muscle group focus one on gluteus the other on the hamstrings and quads 😎*️⃣Hex bars  let people with back problems perform ' squats 'without putting strain on the back and shoulders.  Hex bar squats or deadlifts  use the same motion as standard barbell squats, they activate the same muscle groups. Well heres what the research shows. ⠀ 1️⃣Study 1: They looked at the effects of post exercise alcohol consumption. They trained eccentrically because they found that to induce the most muscle damage and muscle soreness. 30 min post exercise they drank 1g of per kg of bodyweight of Smirnoff Vodka (which is about 5-6 shots for an average guy). They found that muscle injury was magnified which therefore delayed the recovery process which could impact your performance. ⠀ 2️⃣Study 2: In a test on mice to see how alcohol affects protein synthesis. The mice were given 3g/kg of alcohol. They injected with alcohol before their muscles were electrical stimulated. They found that alcohol consumption had a long lasting effect on protein synthesis and mTOR. This implied that if you have a heavy night of drinking the night before training could limit protein synthesis which would therefore lead to limited muscular adaptations. ⠀ 3️⃣Study 3: In this study they looked at moderate alcohol consumption and hypertrophy in mice. They found that although their are decrements in muscle with the use of alcohol, they were still able to make muscle size increase and had an increase of protein synthesis. 🔥Deadlift EMOM workout🔥 . Follow @dancudes . One of my favourite workouts is a deadlift EMOM. I've discussed EMOMs beforez but they stand for Every Minute in the Minute where you perform an exercise for a given set of reps at the start of every minute for a given set of time. However long it takes to complete that exercise for the given amount of reps, you have the remainder of the minute to rest. For example, if it takes you 20 seconds to complete it, you have 40 seconds to rest. Once we hit the start of the next minute, you do it again and you keep repeating this for the entirety of the workout. These are three EMOMs me and my brother @tommasino.marchese love to hit every so often and are some of our favourite workouts to do. what's amazing about these workouts is the amount of volume you accumulate over the course of the workout. Most people do about 25 deadlifts in a session following a popular 5x5 protocol, but in an EMOM they can take that and near double the volume to 50 or even 60 reps. That additional volume goes a long way. EMOMS are perfect for building muscle mass and strength and bring a level of intensity that can only be understood once you do it. I would urge you to periodize them intelligently into your program as they are taxing and should not be done every single workout. I might do one about every other week or so. With the acception of a beginner who I believe should lift with light to moderate weights and work their way down throughout time to heavier weights, it is evident that lifting both heavy and lighter (a relative term) weights are paramount for building muscle mass. I'm addition, there are benefits to each that the other doesn't necessarily have. I like to structure my workout where I train with heavier loads at the beginning of my workout when I'm the freshest and lighter loads near the end though you can even structure your week so one workout is dedicated to heavier loads and the other is dedicated to lighter loads (e.g. upper heavy, lower heavy, upper light, lower light). Regardless, train with all weights in all rep ranges to build the most amount of muscle, become strong and functional, and be a well-rounded lean and fit individual. - Do you train with heavy or light weight?
