Semoga bermanfaat ya! @Regrann from @brad_beer - [RETURN TO RUN TIPS] 📌 _ ☝🏻Returning to running following injury is an art and science (IMO more of an ‘art’ as there are so many contextual considerations for each athlete-vs hard and fast rules to follow). Here’s 5 tips that may help you safely return to running following injury 👀 _ 1️⃣. It’s important to build volume first, then add speed, and finally add incline. Changing too many variables at once may heighten the risk of re-injury📈 . 2️⃣. The 10% rule may not have utility for beginner runners or runners who have established large ‘fitness’ bases with years of prior running (refer to my prior post for more info) 🧐 . 3️⃣. Sudden training load increases *may* in some instances heighten the risk of injury. Rather than erratic jumps in loading consider a more *linear* approach to building mileage back up 📶 . 4️⃣. If you are experiencing symptoms or pain on your return to running take note of them. If in doubt confer with your health professional-but generally best to take heed & not ignore 🔎 . 5️⃣. Take the longer term view: think about what you can achieve over back to back uninjured seasons vs overestimating what you can achieve on one season. Not my fastest run but after the injury in my calf during my big run on Saturday I'd have taken 20 mins per mile pace. Really thought I'd blown Chicago. Managed to get a 4 mile run/walk in along the French coast. 3rd day here and still not touched one pain au chocolate or crêpe. MORNINGGGG!!!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today's run felt good 😊 45 minutes mixed pace run with 5 easy, 10 steady, 10 threshold, 10 steady and a 10 minute easy cool down. Out bright and early and really enjoyed it so feeling fresh 👌🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Last nights 40 'easy' minutes was a bit uncomfortable as my legs were still heavy from Sunday's race, with my shins and calves feeling quite tight. Did lots of stretching when I got back and then again this morning before I went out and felt much better. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I've booked in for another sports massage at @fluxsportstherapy for tomorrow night to iron out the tightness and make sure I'm ready for my 20 miler on the bank holiday.

Think positive, be positive. Think negative, be negative. Our perspective on our current situation has a very strong impact on the outcome and results. If you think the task before you sucks and how much you hate it, I can assure you that it is going to suck the entire time. If we can find the positive though and set our focus on these things, our results improve, we enjoy the task more and it makes the task so much easier. Just the simple mindset and focus is a complete game changer. For example this morning on my run, I got caught in a negative loop. Its too early, I could go back to sleep, I am sweaty, my knee hurts, my foot hurts, etc. I began to think about how my negative defaults in my head are affecting this mornings run and the vast difference between negative and positive talk. Basically I got all the negative talk out of my head and guess what? My performance improved. Take a look at my mile times and you will see. Right around mile 1 is whete I got the negative out and my performance shows. We are going to experience negative, that is part of life. What we do with the negative influence is our choice. We can focus on the negative or spin it and turn it into a positive. That power is up to us and is something we must focus on and embrace. Back (long post alert) - walked through the door at 1am and was adament I'd make it to the gym this morning. Motivated as ever I got up and the first thing I did was weigh myself 😳 OH MY! The all inclusive has had a horrific impact with 1/2 stone gain. But I enjoyed myself and that's what counts so now we're back its back to controlled meals and not 3 courses for breakfast, lunch and dinner 🍳😂 . . . Any who! Got into the gym today (a new one) and I was SO nervous mainly the fear of judgement of others but I really wanted to use the free weights like I'd done with my PT previously 🏋️‍♀️ . . . After warming up I pulled on my big girl pants and headed straight to the squat, shoved the headphones on straight away and just got it done. Seeing @hannah_tracks smashing it every day I just zoned into what I needed to do as after all why was I stressing?! People weren't bothered with what I was doing they're only focused on their own workouts 😬 . . . . Double digits😍 ... It's been a minute since I've had a double digit weekday run y'all😎 ... Todays workout was doozy and SO mentally challenging. I wanted to throw in the towel before I even started. I had a million excuses why I wasn't up for a workout today, but I finally I just told myself to buck up and give it a shot😏 ... Had to dig really deep today, shut off all negative thoughts and just get it DONE💪👊 ... I'm finding that getting back to the fitness I was in earlier this year is gonna be hard - it gonna take a lotta work and consistency, but I'm ready for a challenge and looking forward to the journey! I'm ready and hungry to get into PR shape! ... Side note, is anyone else loving the @maurten_official gels?! I have major stomach probs with most gels but have been SO happy since switching over! I don’t have to run, I get to run. Big difference. Running is my thing. Rain, wind, hot, cold, humid or perfect...it doesn’t matter. I definitely don’t take my daily runs for granted! As I dive deeper into this training cycle, I have to dedicate more time to the things that keep me healthy. The extra stuff, not just the miles I put in. The strength training, the stretching, the foam rolling, fueling properly, enough sleep, keeping track of my shoes, my warm ups & cool downs. All of that is extremely important in keeping me healthy. Sometimes I think the hardest part of marathon training is getting yourself to the start line in one piece😆 Doing all the extra things is my insurance that I’m doing everything possible to have a strong race. What are some of the extra things you guys do to stay healthy during training? Also...I could’ve used some gills to get through these 10 miles this morning. I felt like a bass fish swimming upstream!🐠😝

Just keep grinding✨ You’re going to be thankful months from now for the work you put in today. Sometimes it’s hard to keep your eye on the prize. That’s why I normally like to race frequently, so that my goals are never too far away. But, how do you keep focused when you are injured, and it’s not clear if you will even be able to run your goal race? I’ve struggled with this a bit lately. Here is what I know: I should be able to run again in 2-4 weeks assuming I heal as expected. I am currently signed up to run NYC Marathon, CIM, and the Miami Half. I’m flexible with my goals, and at this point my A goal is to be able to run/walk NYC and possibly be fully trained for CIM. But, if I’m not healed, NYC might be out of the question and who knows about CIM. I have shifted my focus in training to build the strongest, healthiest body that is ready to run when the time is right. This means doing things I really do not want to do: I’m talking to you, planks. According to my PT, I need to strengthen my core (ugh), loosen the heck up with some yoga (double ugh), continue to strengthen my glutes (easy), and cycle/swim to maintain my cardiovascular fitness (😃). That’s a lot when you think about it! But, if I do it, and put in the work now, I’m going to come out the other side a much happier, healthier runner. And this girl is in it for the long run. So it’s time to put in some WORK. I’m all in. 👊🏼 . 2+ hours at the gym this morning to fit all 👆🏽in... spin class + arms workout + PT stretches. . 📸: from last week on my beloved resort peloton bike that I miss so much!
