“Its been one week and I’ve already lost 7lbs”. My biggest fear doing #Shreddagddon is dropping a bunch of weight and having nothing to show for it. Losing weight isn’t the hard part it’s losing weight and becoming skinny fat again. I’m already dropping weight and I feel my body didn’t make much of a change. HOW TO ASSESS PROGRESS WITHOUT A SCALE by @online.fitness.coach Follow me @online.fitness.coach for more daily fitness advice like this! Body weight is certainly important, especially if your main goal is weight loss. However, most people make the mistake of relying solely on the scale as their ONLY indicator of progress. Let me ask you this… Does your scale tell you how much fat you’ve lost and how much lean muscle you’ve gained? Does your scale measure how many inches you’ve taken off your waistline? Does your scale track your food to help you eliminate bad habits like drinking too much soda? Does your scale know that you set a personal record on your squat today? Does your scale show you the changes in your body composition between now and the time you started? If your scale does all these things, then disregard this post. Your scale is way better than mine. For everyone else, make sure you have at least 3 OTHER WAYS to assess your progress besides the number on the scale. When you’re on a fitness journey, there’s a lot more going on than just weight loss. You’re getting out of your comfort zone, trying new things, reinforcing positive habits, trading a little body fat for a little lean muscle, starting to feel better about yourself, getting stronger, sleeping well, and waking up with more energy. The scale measures none of this. Focus on improving every single day, not on the number on the scale, and with patience and consistent effort you will reach your goals. Friendly reminder: you can have goals & still have close relationships. Upon really getting into fitness and trying to better my life overall, I distanced myself from a lot of people and things. I stopped drinking. I stopped going out to eat much. These were good things at the time. But I also stopped hanging out with people often. I stopped dating. I stopped replying to texts. There are usually some people that you need to distance yourself from when you are trying to improve yourself and change the way you live, BUT I removed everyone who didn’t have the exact same goals as me from my life, and I labeled nearly every new person as “not aligning with me” before I even got to know them. I stopped dating because I feared having someone distract me from my goals. All of this lead me to a lot of time alone. In the last few months, I’ve opened myself up to people again. I’ve made a couple new friends (not many, but they are my people). I entered dating app world again, not expecting to get much out of it, and here I am dating my best friend, in the healthiest relationship I’ve ever been in. All people are going to distract you from your goals. Some people won’t meet your standards and won’t support your success, and yes, you should distance yourself from THEM. BUT sometimes distraction isn’t a bad thing. The people in my life now support my goals fully, but they also distract me to go out and have drinks, to try new restaurants, to put my laptop away and just watch an episode of Portlandia and laugh my ass off. They also call me out on my bullshit and respect me when I have to work or study and can’t be with them. They give my life substance and remind me that life is meant to be lived. Your success means nothing if you aren’t happy along the way. This post was kind of all over the place BUT my takeaway here is: have standards for who gets to be in your life, but don’t distance yourself from everyone just to be successful. There ARE people who support your goals and also make your life so much fun 🖤 . Coaching application in bio!

I’m going to serve you a little truth right now. A truth that I had to get through my head before I was able to find any kind of success with getting healthy. Here it is: if you truly want this, you’re going to have to be stronger than your excuses. It’s a hard truth and some may even want to jump through their phone at me, but it’s the truth. I was a master of manipulating my own self with excuses. I’ll start Monday, but it’s the holiday season, I’m just big boned, I’m happy at my size....etc. I would be able to talk myself out of it every time!!! I had to get to a point of being stronger than my excuses. First thing you have to do is acknowledge and admit to yourself that you are an abuser of excuses. Then whisper to yourself the phrase I share with you often “what would happen if this time I didn’t quit.” I had days where I was trying to hop on that excuse train but what I finally realized is that only got me to one destination and that was right back to where I started. Your mind is a POWERFUL tool and if you take the time to train your brain to work with you instead of against you IT CHANGES EVERYTHING! It’s not easy to change these habits but if we excuse ourselves out of the hard work it takes then you’ll stay stagnant. This is the truth I had to realize and it’s changed my world. The first is a photo of me a few weeks ago in Dubai....... the second was a few years ago in Orlando . I know people say you should be confident however you look but I remember my time in Orlando feeling self conscious about my body. I remember craving all the sugar and carbs and feeling so guilty after eating. This holiday was marred because of how I felt about my body. This is one of the only photos I can find of me because I didn’t want any photos taking...... not a great role model for my children 😢 . My holiday to Dubai was a different story completely. Nutrition Hierarchy . When looking at Fat/Weight loss... it's imperative that the Hierarchy is followed from the most important to the least! . But . Many people still get this fundamentaly wrong... and if we get this right, then I believe that it will go a long way for us to get we're we want to? . Fat Loss! . Now some people do very well without following this hierarchy... but a lot DON'T? IMO . A lot of people want to do all the Fancy stuff, and don't look at the Bigger Picture . Until we follow some kind of structure... then we'll continue to be sporadic . Adherence (find something you can stick) . Calories (calculate use an app) . That's TWO standard deviations above to ensure it meets the requirements of the majority of the population. 😂I never intended this outfit to be a progress outfit. I just refused to wear anything more revealing back when I weighed 240 pounds. I didn’t plan to take photos of myself that day, it just kind of happened. I was feeling disgusted with myself & knew that I was getting close to my breaking point & that soon I was going to change. So I forced myself to get up, go to the mirror in whatever I was wearing, and take pictures. I wish I would have taken more before photos, in something that showed more of my arms & back, but that’s ok. I was trying to do things at my pace in my way this time, so my method was to be as stress-free as possible & just relax. That’s why I kept it a secret for months & why I don’t truly have before photos. Whatever you need to do to be successful, do that. Happy Saturday, friends!! Today I reached the 11 month mark in my journey!! I cannot even believe that my next check-in will be at one year. I NEVER imagined I would be where I am today. I am also very glad I’ve regularly taken measurements, because although the scale has been a brat lately I am down 10ish inches from a month ago (swipe to see my current measurements). I DID NOT “BOUNCE BACK” THIS ISN’T A TRANSFORMATION PHOTO. 👇🏾 @aarowngalang showed me the photo on my left and the first thing I said was “EW. Why did I let go of myself when I gave birth?” I posted this in my stories thinking it would be a good “transformation” post. This was until @marymasayahin and @janinekhouri messaged me saying I was beautiful in both photos. I realized... fuck yeah. So much truth in that. In both photos I was one hell of a mother - just with different goals at different times. I remember the photo on the left was when I was prioritising breastfeeding Adaiah. Dieting wasn’t an option, as well as high intensity exercises as it drove my milk supply down. So during this time, it was his nourishment above anything else. Photo on the right was when adaiah no longer needed to breastfeed much. I had more time. I was stronger. Had more energy and just had all the resources to focus on me and my health. At this stage he is extremely HEAVY and I have to keep up - thats why I started lifting... aiming for longevity... I want to be able to carry him when he needs me to, run with him when he wants to, and stay as active as him. There is a time for everything. There are things much more important than others. 🦐 Y’all know my motto is to keep it easy but still taste good and that’s exactly what tonights meal was. This homemade shrimp Alfredo over a bed of broccoli was ready in under 10 minutes . . 🔹Alfredo sauce: 1/2 stick of salted Kerrygold butter (2 oz) 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese 2 tsp minced garlic or more 👻 Everything but tha salt @daksspices . . 🔹Melt butter and add in minced garlic, then add in heavy cream and seasoning. Cook until well mixed. Then add in Parmesan cheese and stir till cheese is fully melted. . . 🔹Shrimp was cooked on the stove in salted Kerrygold butter and minced garlic for a few minutes on each side. . . 💥Fresh Broccoli was placed in a bowl with a little bit of water. Placed a plate on top and steamed in microwave for 3 minutes. Drain and then add shrimp, Alfredo sauce and top with bacon crumbles and enjoy. Macros per piece: 300 calories, 28g fat, 2,5g net carbs, 10g protein _________________________ INGREDIENTS: 10 slices CAKE: 4 eggs 1/2 cup (1 dl) erythritol  2 cups (5 dl) almond flour Zest from one lemon Juice from 1/2 lemon 1 tsp baking soda 1 pinch of fresh lemon balm (citronmeliss) 1/4 tsp salt FROSTING: 8.8 oz. (250g) cream cheese 1/2 cup (1 dl) heavy cream 2 tbsp erythritol 1 tbsp lemon juice TOPPING: Lemon slices  Lemon zest  Fresh lemon balm ___________________________ INSTRUCTIONS: 1.Set oven on 300°F/150°C 2.Mix almond flour, baking soda, lemon zest, chopped lemon balm and salt in a bowl. 3.Mix eggs and erythritol with an electrical mixer in a separate bowl until they become white and fluffy. I do 12 minutes. This is the most important step because the fluffier eggs the more moist the bread gets. 4. Add lemon juice to the eggs and mix for another minute 5.Fold in the dry ingredients in the eggs. Very important to fold and not mix because you want to keep as much air as possible in the eggs. 6.Pour the mix in a bread pan covered in a baking sheet. Bake for 35-40 min. 7.Put in the fridge or freezer to let it cool before adding frosting.  8.Add the ingredients for the frosting in a bowl. Mix with an electrical mixer until it becomes a thick cream. Put in the fridge while waiting for the cake to cool. 👀How will you spend your last days of this decade?! Rewind 5 years & I would’ve been full of excuses of why I should wait until the new year to start👇🏼 ⠀ •I had unattainable standards & couldn’t meet them •I was unable to eat anything in moderation •I was constantly yo-yo-ing from 1 extreme to another •I was restricting then binge eating •I was totally inactive or over-exercising at the gym •I was motivated but then I felt like it wasn’t even worth trying ⠀ I couldn’t see it then, but it wasn’t my lack of skill or willpower, the problem was my all-or-nothing thinking! ⠀ All-or-nothing = perceiving anything less than 'perfect' as a failure. ⠀ Funny cause perfect doesn’t even exist. So I spent years chasing a standard that was unachievable - no wonder why only 9% of people stick to their resolutions 🤯 ⠀ If you’ve struggled achieving your goals, try making a goal that’s habit-based! (ex: I will start tracking my calories daily or I will start exercising 2x a week or eat 1-2 servings of veggies each meal) ⠀ ◾️Know Yourself Babe! be realistic w/ what you can achieve in a given timeline, knowing that life happens & shit ALWAYS comes up ◾️Make a Plan: if you write down your goals, you are 91% more likely to achieve them ◾️Start Small: make your goals or habits so small they’re almost laughable. then when motivation is low, you’ll still be able to conquer them. ◾️Accountability: the most elite athletes & performers have coaches & you should, too. a coach or accountabilibuddy can be all you need to stay on track! ⠀ ⚠️You might (will) struggle at first, but the key is to start & just be consistent. I haven’t done a post like this in so long and I was reminded the other day by seeing one of my old posts like this. Why? . People on the internet suck. I was asked if “ I work out anymore” and “ how come I’m not thin anymore” because of a video that my lower belly popped out a bit 😂 . . Let me tell you something. It’s called some skin and yes some belly “fat” because I’m fucking normal. We legit all of body fat. We need body fat. So many of us get hung up on “ lower belly fat” ( we all have this. It is the most stubborn area to lose fat ) .. I have it. I have cellulite. ( majority of women have this ) . I have stretch marks. I have saggy skin from my two kids. . . The outside pictures show me trying to get a picture perfect angle of myself. ( after 100 takes and getting the right angle and lightening ). I am not perfect, nor will I ever be. I don’t claim to be. Take social media pictures and everything you see online with a grain of salt and STOP being so hard on yourself. . . Many of us show our better sides and angles but not all of us show the raw, the real, the “flaws”. The best thing you can do for yourself is just stop comparing ( I know this is hard), take care of yourself and your body and live a healthy lifestyle. . . Y’all abs come and go. No one has perfect abs 24/7 unless they are 1. Flexing and 2. In a strict competition and have a strict diet. The goal should be to be the healthier and better version of yourself and not starve yourself, restrict and make yourself go CRAZY because the girl/ model/ whoever you look up to *probably* photoshopped her picture, took 1 hour to get the best picture, held her breathe in and got the best angle.
