This will be long because I don't know how to make any part of this journey short. Probably because it's been anything but short. Sometimes you can work your butt off but life happens, stress happens & everyone's body reacts to it differently. Don't beat yourself up just focus on how to get back & make the change again. For me that's making sure I'm not accidentally eating something I shouldn't & my doctors checking all my labs to make sure life hasn't made them crash once again. I have people in my life trying to push me to be more open then I already have been with my journey to health. Hello public Instagram! They know all I want to do is help or bring someone the encouragement I needed when I first started this. So if these annoy you or you simply don't care hide me, unfollow me or, delete me. I actually have people who will ask me for updates & to post them so I try to. When I got the results today I messaged my cousin & said I am not posting today it's a complete fail! He said no post it! Show that it happens... So here we go. 😬 This is not about what I weigh or your weight. This is about finding your version of healthy! My doctors have watched my weight only to get me down to my presickness weight strictly because we knew that's where my body was able to function. But we've mainly focused on my fat & muscle numbers! Left one where I started at May 2018. Middles June 2019 before I started the gym & the rights today. Yeah my weight went up & I knew that ahead of time. Everyone kept saying it's muscle you've been in the gym don't freak out. I even made it through fair season & didn't even cheat with food. I limited my lemon shakeups since that's technically the only thing that'd been different for me to eat. “You’re a hard girl to please”. . Am I? I get that said to me a lot. You’re a hard girl to please is right up there with “your a strong and bold girl.” . Maybe I am hard to please but I like that about me! I don’t settle for mediocrity. I don’t settle for average. I don’t settle for “it is what it is”. I’m hard to please because whilst I accept and love every single step in the journey, I’m constantly striving for the destination. The scenery along the way is lovely and I’ll stop to smell the roses but I’m not going to sit and wallow there. I’m going to be working on the next step, the next big thing. . Cauliflower pizza bbq sausage pizza So this was one of those meals where you throw whatever you had in your fridge together to use it up, BUT it turned out amazing so I had to share. ▫️ ▫️ ▫️ Ingredients: 1 TD cauliflower pizza crust (to make this crisp is what takes forever, but how to below) 1/4 cup Homemade BBQ sauce (my recipe below, but you can use store bought) 3 TD jalapeno chicken sausages 1/2 red onion sliced 1/2 cup of mystery cheese- NEVER throw away those rando cheese chunks, they come in handy (I shredded up those random little cheese cubes from previous blocks…. Pretty sure it was 2 types of cheddar and one type of gouda) BUT mystery Mac and cheese is the best and that will come for a future post ▫️ ▫️ ▫️ BBQ sauce recipe: 1/4 cup of ketchup 3 tbs of apple cider vinegar 1 tbs brown sugar 1 tbs of honey 2 tbs of dijon mustard (use 1 tsp of mustard powder if you have it… I didn’t ) 1 tsp cayenne 2 tsp paprika Splash of hot sauce ▫️ ▫️ ▫️ Crisp the cauliflower crust: 1.) Heat the oven to 450 and bake for 25 minutes (flipping half way) 2.) turn broiler on high and broil each side for 5 minutes 3.) add toppings and cook for an additional 5 minutes for cheese to melt ▫️ ▫️ ▫️ DO NOT MAKE IF YOU ARE STARVING. When I started on my health journey many years ago, I was a sucker for sugar free products. With limited knowledge about nutrition, I just assumed that if something was sugar free that it was healthier. I mean, we’re taught that sugar is about the least healthy thing there is, right? But sugar free cookies are still just cookies. There’s a market for sugar free products if you are diabetic. That’s a much different story. But we seem to gravitate towards sugar free / low sugar products as a means of weight loss, and that is incredibly misguided. If you want to lose weight, you need to control your calories- there is no way around it. While cutting out sugar may help you achieve a caloric deficit, simply eating “sugar free” foods will do absolutely nothing for your weight loss efforts. In the above example, these cookies are almost identical in macros. Yes, the sugar free cookies have the tiniest advantage, but they are basically the same. Will choosing the sugar free cookies be healthier than eating Chips Ahoy? Not exactly. Especially if you are sensitive to artificial sweeteners. It’s easy to assume that they would be the better choice, but there really is not much of a difference at all. Sugar isn’t the problem. Even if it was, consuming sugar free products wouldn’t be the solution. This is a weekly blog tool that is being utilized in order to teach our users how to understand the information they read online about muscle building and weight loss. In order to get the full benefits of this blog we recommend you read the posts in order. Today we are covering the sliding filament theory and how your muscles actually contract in the gym! - Skeletal muscle is a contracting tissue that creates very diverse movement in all animals. The shortening and lengthening of muscle causes fish to swim, birds to fly and humans to walk. Understanding how muscle components move can help individuals understand complete muscle activation, muscle memory, knotted muscles and injury so let's begin. - Muscle movement is made of two proteins known as actin and myosin. These proteins are an internal part of the sarcomere (small stripes visible in muscle tissue) thousands of sarcomere are stacked on top of each other in order to make a single muscle. As muscles shorten a visible change is seen in the sarcomere and this change is caused by the thick myosin protein and the thin actin protein. The movement of these filaments (actin and myosin) creates the sliding filament theory and muscle contraction. no time? no problem- had ten mins to spare so i went with this super quick three ingredient recipe. this kimchi and beef 🥩 stir fry requires only the addition of chopped onion, avocado 🥑 oil, salt 🧂 and pepper. literally all you do is sauté the chopped onion in a table spoon of oil u til softened. add the ground beef and cook until no longer pink and then add the jar of kimchi. Brunchin’ hard on this hump day! 😍 Before I headed to work this morning, I made this delicious brunch plate with all the vegan goods 😋 You got your savory, you got your sweet, you got your protein, you got your healthy fats! All the goods on one plate 🙌🏼 I can confidently say that I have made the BEST healthy banana waffles! After many trails and errors, I have finally got that fluffy, crispy, delicious waffle, completely gluten free and vegan 🤤 What else more could you want in a waffle!? Snag the recipe below 🌻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Vegan Brunch Plate: healthy GF banana waffles (1 cup @bobsredmill almond flour + 1/2 cup oat flour + 1 banana + 1 flax egg + 2 tbsp apple sauce + 1/2 tsp cinnamon + 1/4 tsp baking powder + 3/4 cup almond milk | first combine flax egg and let sit for 5 minutes + add in banana and mash + next add in apple sauce and almond milk then stir + add in dry and combine + lightly spray a mini waffle iron with @chosenfoods avocado oil + pour out 1/4 cup measurements + let cook for 5 minutes) + avocado topped with everything bagel seasoning and red pepper flakes + tempeh bacon (marinate sliced tempeh in coconut aminos, maple syrup, sriracha, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and pepper + air fry for 10-12 minutes at 350 F) + cashew butter + strawberries + blueberries + hemp seeds

Although, sparkling water is a good way to boost your water intake throughout the day. It is also always a great option over sweetened drinks. Here is what you need to know about sparkling water: ⁣ ⁣ 1. Carbonated water is simply water with added carbonation.⁣ 2. According to a study in the J Int Soc Sports Nutr., mineral water with added calcium and bicarb was more hydrating to athletes. Fun fact, one way researchers  measured hydration status was studying their urine gravity… interesting⁣ 3. According to a study in the Am J Clin Nutr, carbonation alone was not shown to reduce bone mineral density. That belief comes from phosphoric acid, added to sodas, that bind to calcium and get excreted through our kidneys, causing weaker bones. Stay clear from phosphoric acid, sugar and artificial additives, and you should be okay!⁣ 4. Club soda is carbonated water with added salt so it will have sodium. Good to know if you need to watch your sodium intake. ⁣ 5. Tonic water is not sparkling water and is in fact, closer to a cola than a water.
