What are probiotics, and should I have them? Comment below with your opinions or questions. Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that can have beneficial health effects. Most studies show that these organisms are beneficial for health and have few side effects. Most of the organisms can be taken as pills, powders, in drinks, or foods. But should everyone be taking probiotics? What dose of probiotics should you take? Which type of probiotics you take? First off, there are three major types of probiotics. The types with the most evidence and seen to be the most beneficial in studies are probiotics containing Lactobacillus and  bifido bacterium species. The second type of probiotics include soil based organisms typically containing a variety of Bacillus species. These probiotics have been shown to be beneficial, but are not as potent as Lactobacillus and  bifido bacterium species. The third type of probiotic are yeast based probiotics, and the most popular one is Saccharomyces boulardii. Each probiotic species contains CFUs, which stands for colony forming units. Colony forming units essentially tell you the dose of the probiotic. Lactobacillus and  bifido bacterium species should contain around 50-100 billion CFUs in order to have health benefits. Studies done with Lactobacillus and  bifido bacterium species used around 100-900 billion CFUs for research, but for the general population between 50-200 billion CFUs can show health benefits and reduction of gastrointestinal symptoms. Soil based organism probiotics should contain around 2-10 billion CFUs in order to show any health benefits. Saccharomyces boulardii probiotics should typically contain around 4-15 billion CFUs in order to gain health benefits. Taking less CFUs than the amounts stated above may not show any benefits, and may just be a waste of money. Additionally, taking probiotics with more CFUs than stated above may just be a waste of money, since the above CFUs show similar benefits compared to very high dose CFU probiotics. High therapeutic dose probiotics can be used for specific health conditions, but have not been shown to be beneficial for the general population.

“Beans, Beans, The Magical Fruit, The More You Eat The More You Toot, The More You Toot The Better You Feel…” 😂Except if you eat beans made fresh at home you won’t have to toot!🤭⁠ ⁠ I was skeptical at first but I put it to the test & seriously NO GAS! I now eat black beans for lunch every single day with absolutely no gas.😎⁠ ⁠ Make this recipe for dinner and then freeze some! This meal works really well to take to friends when they are in need. Put the toppings in a ziplock & you’re set to deliver a delicious & healthy meal!⁠ ⁠ No Gas Black Bean Soup (Delicious Year Round)⁠ ⁠ 2 cups of black beans, pre-soaked overnight, rinsed⁠ 32 oz chicken bone stock⁠ 16 oz water⁠ 3 Tablespoons avocado oil⁠ ½ medium onion, diced⁠ 1 jalapeno (optional for spicy heat)⁠ 6-8 cloves of garlic, minced⁠ ⁠ In pressure cooker pot add oil, turn pressure cooker on to saute mode & allow to heat up. Add in onion and jalapeno, saute 1 minute. Add in minced garlic, saute 1 more minute. Turn off pressure cooker.⁠ ⁠ Drain & rinse beans then add to pot with garlic, onion & jalapeno. Pour in chicken stock & water, stir. Close pressure cooker lid, turn on to pressure cook mode and cook for 35 minutes. Release pressure, open lid & add corn, stir. Allow to cool. Pour into containers leaving 1 inch room for expansion when freezing. Close up and label the outside. Place in freezer.⁠ ⁠ To eat, defrost in fridge for 24 hours then reheat in pot on stove or in microwave. Serve in bowls then top with shredded cheese, sour cream, avocado &/or favorite tortilla chips.⁠ ⁠ ⚡⚡⚡More Than One Meal!!!⚡⚡⚡ Prepare as directed then spoon out beans/corn with slotted spoon & place in tortilla with cheese, roll up burrito, heat in microwave or crisp the outside in pan with a little oil. They are made with @birchbenders paleo pancake mix and I add @ancientnutrition collagen, maca, @hukitchen chocolate gems and reishi mushroom powder. I’ve been doing a couple of devotionals since the beginning of the year and what I’ve been learning is that community is EVERYTHING. Since taking a break from social media last year (Sept-January) I’ve realized I needed to gather sound some time to devote to friends and family. When we’re constantly thinking about food our bodies are trying to protect us. They want us to eat to survive.⁣ Suggestion: Eat⁣ ⁣ When we eat past comfortable fullness it can be a sign we don’t eat this food often enough. Our bodies think we better eat up while we can, who knows when we’ll have this again?⁣ Suggestion: Eat that food more often. Every day if you want. Notice what happens. ⁣ ⁣ When we feel out of control around a food we might have some rules and judgements around it. ‘I can’t have it’ because it’s ‘bad/unhealthy/not clean’ etc.⁣ Suggestion: Neutralize it. It’s neither good nor bad, it’s food, not dryer lint or paint, just food. Notice how it tastes. The food itself is not toxic but our thoughts about it can be. ⁣ ⁣ *There is more nuance here to explore. Food insecurity, trauma, and using food to cope with difficult emotions are a few.

I sage smudge my space at the end of each week. The practice dates back to prehistoric times but there’s more to it than just superstition. Science shows that burning plants like sage, clears airborne bacteria- acting like an air purifier. It also has an effect on the energy in your space - clearing stale, negative energy. Simply open your windows, light a few sage leaves [keep them in a metal or porcelain bowl], gently blow out the flames and allow the tiny billow of smoke to work it’s magic room by room. Walk around each room tracing doorframes, windows, smudge each corner. I’ll bet your space will feel energetically lighter almost immediately! Believe it or not, I did not stage my kids in this photo. Haha! I did stage the muffins.😆 They go crazy for these muffins so I wanted to share my recipe with y’all! Protein Muffins: •4 scoops Arbonne protein (I recommend 2 scoops vanilla, 2 scoops chocolate) •1 scoop of greens balance •1 scoop fiber boost •1 tsp of baking soda •2 eggs •2 ripe bananas, smashed •1 cup almond butter (pro tip: hit it up so it’s easy to mix) •1 tsp vanilla extract •1/2c vegan chocolate chips Mix together and bake at 350* for 13-15 minutes. Enjoy! Quick, easy, and delicious!

Day 47 - Leg Day - You know you have had a good leg day when your legs turn to jelly trying to go down the stairs after your workout! During the workout I was definitely sweating more then any of my workout so far, that'd got to be a good thing right? I love the squats on this workout and while I felt it, I'm thinking I'll up my weights next week. I've bought myself something to do the step ups on, okay I didn't feel safe on it hahaha with my weights but it will do for now and I feel the burn from it. The resistance bands still properly don't offer enough resistance for my leg extension but it works. For lying leg curls, as I don't have a machine. I'm now doing a glute bridge on a gym ball, I really felt that today but next week I'll add in a hamstring curl then glute bridge as my alternate. I was not really in the mood for this workout yet again but while lacking in motivation of late, I've been high in discipline and forced myself. I feel so much better for doing it. Boom another day down!

🔥🔥🔥5 WAYS TO STAY MOTIVATED IN YOUR FITNESS JOURNEY 🔥🔥🔥🔥 1. Create SMART goals. We all have an idea of what our goals are, whether to lose weight, maintain, gain muscle, etc. but what small steps are you incorporating into your routine to reach that goal? Are they realistic? Don’t set yourself up for failure from the beginning. Choose one goal you want to reach for that week or month and keep building on top of that. Reaching those small goals consistently is a great motivation to keep pushing. 2. Switch it up. It can be so easy to just go in the gym and do the same workouts every week, but that gets boring real fast. Go to a new class, try a new workout plan, join a challenge (doing @ginamarie.ifbbpro challenge rn and LOVE IT so far 🤩) to keep me motivated and accountable at the moment. 3. Find a workout partner. I’m 100% one of those people that workout by myself because it’s my me time, but when I’m not feeling it I try to find a friend to work out with to keep it fun and have someone there to help you push it along. 4. Plan it out, make a schedule, write it down and make it happen. I like to plan ahead and have set times and days where I am going to the gym that week, along with which workouts I am doing. This helps you already know ahead of time which days youre going and which workouts to hit, which leaves you less likely to second guess going in the first place. 5. Have FUN with it!!! Do workouts you love to do. Hip thrusts, glute kickbacks are all the hype right now, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to do those to get a booty. There is plenty of workouts to choose from. Find the ones you like and enjoy doing and I guarantee it will help you become more excited about going to the gym. 💥💥💥💥DISCLAIMER: YOU WILL NOT ALWAYS BE MOTIVATED💥💥💥💥 Quit looking for excuses to not go to the gym and eat healthy if you’re trying to reach a goal. It takes sacrifice sometimes to look the way you want to look and the reality is you will not always be motivated. On those days you just have to ask yourself how bad you want it 😈
