MUSCLE GROWTH EXPLAINED by @jmihalyfit ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Quick and dirty explanation post by Justin, giving us a visual of how the muscle behaves pre, during and post exercise. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Basically the muscle pre exercise is in it's normal state, not full of blood and not torn so we are in the natural size and state of a non stimulated muscle fiber. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Its only when our muscle have been stimulated and over loaded that the muscle experiences some micro tears. Now this sounds awful but rest assure that this is the normal life cycle of the muscle whenever we go through out extensive training session. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Post workout is now when the magic happens. We rest and recovery along with feeding the muscle fibers to grow back bigger and stronger. Workout Tip! . If you are trying to get better at pull-ups, read on. . This is a great way to do an assisted pull up without weird bands or someone grabbing your ankles. . Over time, you can progressively make it harder by using your leg less and you can even do negatives. . Give it a shot and soon enough you'll notice you are getting much stronger. . Today I underwent an extremely invasive surgery, involving polypectomy, septoplasty, and turbinate reduction procedure on all 4 sinuses. . Many people do not know this but I have spent the past 2-3 years of my life 100% miserable with chronic infections, allergies, and pain. You would never know it by looking at me OR my posts but I am sick almost every day of my life.. year round. It has felt like a disability. My life has been completely dictated by this and I pray to god that I am finally free.. . While I am in a lot of pain, Iam thankful that God brought me through this surgery. Breaking leg contact adds to the difficulty level of the exercise. All the muscles on the model stabilize the body. Characteristic mistake: Anterior pelvic tilt. The reason is compensation for weakness in the abdominal muscles or lack of awareness. Why is it preferable to maintain a STRAIGHT BACK/ BODY ALIGNMENT? Straight back or body alignment refers to a neutral position of the spine, which we have when our posture is ideal and the spine maintains its normative curves. “Do you drink that shake everyday?” 👇🏼⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Do you take a multi-vitamin ONE day and think "ok, I'm good to go now. HEAD DOWN & HUSTLING. Just so god damn proud of myself. After what has been a super challenging last few months emotionally... I’m almost 5kgs down and never felt better & FITTER! My goal was to be in MY best shape/fitter than ever, before my 30th rolls round in December. Well here we are and still 3 weeks to go 😉 Resting heart rate is now below 40, strength is better than ever, comfortably running 5x the distance I once could (FYI, I started running a few months ago coz it took my mind off things, although has def challenged mentally in another way which I love...but I also started so I could run all the walks that I used to take my little Bella 💔🐶), have been smashing out 2x per week 1on1 boxing & 2 boxing classes sessions per week and feeling gooooood! Huge thanks to both of my Chris’s for smashing me weekly and always supporting me... it’s always the highlight of my day! @chriswarriorwase @coach_chris_nextgenfitness And of course all of the @nextgen_fitnessfactory coaches in classes 👊🏼👊🏼

Regrets.⁣ ⁣ No one wants em.⁣ ⁣ We all hear the stories of a 90-something-year-old saying how badly they wish they did some things, and regret that they didn’t do em.⁣ ⁣ I recently read one where the person said how weird it felt that she would still have money left in her bank account, and that she wished she wasn’t so frugal with it and just bought that thing she really wanted, or went on that trip with her friend instead of saving it. ⁣ ⁣ Pretty crazy right?⁣ ⁣ Not a single one of us wants to have regrets when our time comes, yet a lot of us have regrets already.⁣ ⁣ I sure do.⁣ ⁣ I wish I had a plan when I first started my fitness journey.⁣ ⁣ I wish I was under proper guidance in the beginning.⁣ ⁣ Because of me trying to figure things out all by myself with the internet, I made a lot of mistakes.⁣ ⁣ Mistakes that injured me and left me unable to work out.⁣ ⁣ Mistakes that led me to believe that I had to eat certain foods, all the time, for the rest of my life if I wanted to look a certain way.⁣ ⁣ Mistakes that caused me to yo-yo with my fitness, health, and mental health CONSTANTLY.⁣ ⁣ The crazy thing is though⁣ ⁣ I could have hired someone to show me the way. Someone to look out for me, take care of me, cheer for me, and answer all my questions. ⁣ ⁣ I was 14, I didn’t have money, but I could have BEGGED my mom to help me out. If she would have seen how important this is to me then she would have found a way.⁣ ⁣ But I was too proud to ask. I knew I could do this on my own.⁣ ⁣ And I did do it on my own.⁣ ⁣ But it took 8 years longer than it should have.⁣ ⁣ And now that time lost is gone forever.⁣ ⁣ Money can always be found, made, and worked for. ⁣ ⁣ But time⁣ ⁣ Once that's gone, it's GONE. It ain’t ever coming back. ⁣ ⁣ Don’t make the same mistake I did. Learn from my mistakes. . Love you ❤️

Anybody that knows me knows that I really don’t hit abs often, but when I do it’s an absolute shred-fest. A common misconception is that you should workout abs after each workout. That’s a hard pass for me; Why would you treat your abs any different than any other muscle? For well defined, what I call “thick”, abs use the same rules you would for any other body part. 3-4 exercises, 3-4 sets of 8-12 reps. The Thomas Test (also known as Iliacus Test or Iliopsoas Test) is used to measure the flexibility of the hip flexors Instructions for the Thomas test stretch: 1. Lie on your back on a mat. 2. Place a foam roller or rolled up yoga mat underneath your sacrum. 3. Bend both knees into your chest, so your back is rounded towards the ground. 4. Hug the right knee in and slowly straighten your left leg. 5 Keep your left leg straight. When moving the knees to the chest, the connection of muscles, ligaments, and fascia (tissues) causes an automatic chain reaction of Posterior Pelvic Tilt with lumbar flexion (#PPT) The posterior tilt pulls and stretches the iliopsoas. Bringing the knee up into the chest stretches the gluteus maximus of the bent leg, and also the hip flexors of the straight leg. Hip flexion contributes to the change in pelvic tilt angle. TRICEP PUSHDOWNS by @apfau @fitness_lovers_point If you enjoy my content, make sure to follow me, @apfau for daily fitness content 😁. - Tricep pushdowns are one of my go to tricep isolation exercises. There are various attachments you can use including this rope. I prefer the rope when I’m doing higher reps because it really enables you to get a strong contraction in your tricep at the bottom when you spread the rope. This will also emphasize the medial head of the tricep a bit more compared with a bar attachment or if you choose not to spread the rope although any tricep pushdown will still hit both heads. PULLDOWN GRIP by @apfau @fitness_lovers_point If you enjoy my content, make sure to follow me, @apfau for daily fitness content 😁. - Here are a couple of helpful posts by @nattyknowledge on lat pulldowns. I’ve discussed pulldown and pull-up grip width before and how despite popular belief, going wider does not hit more lats than a closer, more neutral grip. This tends to anger some people. - It’s not that going wider is necessarily “wrong” (as long as it’s not too wide). It’s that most people who are going wide are doing so in hopes of targeting the area of their lats that is actually hit more effectively by going closer. As you can see in this diagram, a wider grip does target the teras major. It’s not as if going wide doesn’t use any muscles. OVERHEAD PRESS by @apfau @fitness_lovers_point If you enjoy my content, make sure to follow me, @apfau for daily fitness content 😁. - Standing overhead presses are one of the most effective exercises for developing your shoulders. They are also one of the most difficult and frustrating exercises to improve on which causes people’s form to suffer as they try to “force” progress. - First, use full range of motion. The bar should come down to around your upper chest and then you should lock it out. Second, keep your legs out of the movement. This isn’t a push press. The goal is to focus on the shoulders. Third, don’t overarch your back. This usually happens when trying to go too heavy and is a great way to get hurt. Use full range of motion, don’t use momentum, and arch your back slightly. As you press the weight up, you will need to move your head back slightly in order to keep the bar path straight without smacking yourself in the face. Fry your legs and core in one move 🔥 . I love a split squat. There are so many variations...some are better suited to loading heavy, some light, like this one: Single arm split squat - 1 1/4 style. . Don’t mistake ‘light’ for ‘easy’ though. This particle variation accumulates fatigue quickly and in additional, taxes the daylights out of the core. This option is also particularly joint friendly, because you don’t need to load too heavy to get a good training effect👌 . If you program this exercise, I recommend one of two ‘progressive overload’ strategies: . 1️⃣ Increase reps each week.eg: 📝week 1: 3x8 24kg 📝week 2: 3x10 24kg 📝week 3: 3x12 24kg 📝week 4: 3x6 (deload) 20kg . 2️⃣ Increase load each week eg: 📝week 1: 3x8 20kg 📝week 2: 3x8 24kg 📝week 3: 3x8 28kg 📝week 4: 3x6 (deload) 20kg .
