I almost didn’t post this update—I’m embarrassed. But if the point of making this account was to keep myself accountable, I’m not doing myself any favors by not posting. . So, I went a little crazy on my vacation...and the week after that. It’s really tough to stick to a workout schedule and healthy-eating lifestyle during the summer. Just taking it one day at a time. Day 1 of this week 30 min treadmill and 30 min circuit room. Someone suggested I only do weights for weight loss. I figured I'll start spending time doing half cardio and half weights as I build stamina. I'm actually up 3 lbs at 275. I feel more toned so I'll assume its muscle for now. My goal for the end of the month is 265 but I won't stress the scale too much. I just want to make sure I work out at least 2 more times this week and keep drinking water. I'm really starting to understand all the cliches about mind over body and controlling my food intake. Motivation Monday: At Miss West Virginia this year I had so much more to celebrate than the honor of being a finalist. So many of my friends and loved ones congratulated me on the hard work I've put in to be healthier and happier. They saw a huge difference between this year (blue) and last year (white) in my health and figure, but what most of them have never seen is where I started. The picture on the right is from when I had stopped taking pictures. I was so unhappy with where I was in my life, in my health and my path. Be safe when you run. Since my runs are often solo, I always carry my phone with me (thank you, @FlipBelt and athletic clothing with pockets), but I do worry about the "what-ifs" as well.. what if something happens to me and I can't call anyone? I want to make sure I'm identifiable. I ordered this tag on Amazon (search: GoTags Shoe ID) just 4 days ago and it arrived today! My name, blood type, and two emergency contact numbers in case something happens to me when I'm out on the road or trail. Haven’t done this one in a while... This little combo for incline chest is killer. Main focus is your upper pecs but you can bet your front deltoids and triceps are getting their butt kicked too. Day 50 of 80! Last day of phase 2! All I need is my iPad and workout clothes! I woke up at 3:30am, caught a flight to Chicago, then drove an hour to a 10am meeting. My coworkers wanted to go out and eat unhealthy. #mondaymotivation Train smart and optimize your workouts! We don’t go to the gym every day just to lift heavy objects (not always at least), but we enter with a plan, we execute, and leave knowing we did everything in our power to be better. As you know I use to change completely my training in the last weeks of prep, and that obviously includes legs training. In these last eight weeks I stop focusing on my quads, for example, to bring up everything else: adductors, abductors, hamstrings, glutes, calves. I posted today’s workout on my stories (and highlights) for you to see how it looks like. Remember to study and write down everything you do, try new stuff, make new plans, improve and have fun! - - - #mondaymotivation Entrenen inteligentemente y optimicen sus entrenamientos! No vamos al gimnasio todos los días solo a levantar cosas pesadas (al menos no siempre), sino que entramos con un plan, lo ejecutamos, y nos vamos sabiendo que hicimos todo lo posible para ser mejores. 🍒Why meal prep? - 🍒For me, meal prep means a couple of things: - 🍒1) I get to effortless hit my 80% nutrient rich whole foods for the day without scrambling on a meal to meal basis. It's not that it's impossible to hit that 80% eating out, it's super possible, but it's just so troublesome for me. At the end of the day I care more about feeling full than the taste, and if I can use some time beforehand to make sure I have a guaranteed meal fulfilling meal in the day, it's worth it. - 🍒2) I get to control exact portions of my food. If I need X amount of protein, I can get X amount of protein. If i want to minimize rice, I can minimize to the exact amount I want. No wasted food, no miscommunication with food vendors, quick simple, exactly what I want. - 🍒3) I get to spend all my remaining calories anyway I want. Meal prepping ensures that I have calories left over for that 20% (whatever I want). A lot of times eating out I can't control the calories to my liking, I might overshoot by a few hundred calories which in my eyes is equal to a snicker bar or a scoop of ice cream. - 🍒4) It gives me an excuse to spend more time in the kitchen. I just love cooking. Period. - 🍒I still want to stress that meal prep is absolutely not necessary to lose weight. Losing weight is about eating in a caloric deficit consistently. That can be achieved on all diets, on all foods. - 🍒All of this might sound like a lot of work, a lot of numbers to crunch, but to me this is my preferred method of weight & health management. I love the whole process. Grocery shopping, planning how the amount to buy for the week, getting home and prepping it, cooking it, and dividing it into boxes. For me, it's a way of life. - 🍒Meal prep can be as simple as bringing an apple + banana to work as a midday snack instead of relying on Oreos or Ritz cookies. Or it could be a super complicated complete meal. - 🍒Neither magically help you lose weight though, meal prep or not. You still gotta be in a caloric deficit consistently.
