· · · Here is a simple little video demonstrating two different movements with two different force vectors. A vector is “a quantity having direction as well as magnitude”. So when thinking about force vectors , think about how much force and what direction am I applying it . . No matter how you twist it, gravity pulls things downward, so in order to work against gravity you have to move stuff in the opposite direction (vertical). You have to move your body and the weight being lifted around gravity’s constraints in order to train different muscles (changing levels are moment arms). . . The same isn’t necessarily true for machines/bands. Instead of having you move your body around to fit the needs of gravity, you can move the band to change the line of pull. . Q & A . . How can physio and pilates transfer to only online sessions? . . Will I feel supported and get results with virtual appointments? . . Do I have to download a special app?. . . Can you still direct bill? . . How do I pay? . . Do I need any special equipment? . . These are some of the questions I've been asked in the last few weeks so I wanted to take a moment to address them the best I can. ✌️ . . Online sessions focus primarily on movement therapy, exercises (new and progressions), self release options and education which are all main components of physiotherapy and pilates. This can help you to manage your symptoms and progress while the clinic is closed to in person sessions. We will work closely together to discuss goals of the online sessions as these may well be different to in person appointments. . Wear clothes you're comfortable in and you can even lay a mat out if you have one. Any equipment you have (bands, balls, rollers etc) can be useful so feel free to email me before your session and I can tailor some exercises. . All the sessions are done through the @janerunsclinics online booking system. Either create an account (for new patients) or sign in to your account (existing patients who have previously booked online) and once booked you'll receive an email to access the appointment. Go to your 'Upcoming appointments' and click 'Begin' beside the relevent appointment. It runs on Chrome and on a laptop or desktop best. No need to download anything! . I can direct bill many of the main extended health providers for you so please have your information handy if that applies, or the Jane system can securely charge a credit card. . . When someone performs a minimally cued countermovement jumps “hey jump on this box” sometimes you see athletes want to pull their feet off the ground and then jump (link in the video). Now it’s not a guarantee, but it’s possible they are doing these because they are more ankle dominant, elastic jumpers. . . By pulling your feet off the ground you not only increase eccentric velocity by letting yourself free fall, you also create an impact starting at your ankles - this in turn allows a greater pretensioning and stretch of the gastroc, initiated the stretch reflex and allowing the Achilles to store energy. Now again, it’s not a given but it’s definitely something you as a coach can look for! . . There are lots of little things a single jump can tell you. Core work ✔️ ⬇️ When it comes down to it, most things can be considered ‘core’ exercises. That being said, the core is put to the test when the extremities are not in contact with the the ground, as it turns into the main driver of movement. ⬇️ This exercise lights up the core and demands a lot of flexion strength. Hoy 6 de Abril se celebra el Día Mundial de la Actividad Física. Esta es una fecha propuesta en el 2002 por la Organizacion Mundial de la Salud y se instauró para promover la actividad física como una manera de fomentar salud. Lo ideal es realizar mínimo 30' diarios. A pesar de que no tengo una bici para mi acostumbrada clase de Xtreme Bike hoy día contamos con muchas alternativas en casa a través de las redes y de forma gratuita para realizar diversas actividades. 📷 6. april, 2020. ✅ Prethodnih dana, dok je bilo hladno, trenirala sam kod kuće... Danas puna 2 sata brzog hoda, i isto toliko raznih vježbi...Dakle, puna četiri sata! Ne planiram da mi čitav zimski trening propadne...Ne pada mi na pamet! Nema šanse!!!
