2019 USAPL Raw Nats- 105k open class 4th place . . . 9 for 9 good lifts Squat- 310k/683.4lbs Bench- 263k/579.8lbs Deadlift- 302.5k/666.8lbs \m/ Total- 875.5k/1930.1lbs . . . Prs in everything with a little left in the tank on deads but pulled what I needed for a podium finish. Put on 62.5k or 137lbs onto my total since 2018 nats. These were from one of the last times I went to the gym, which was almost two weeks ago. 😱 But it’s okay because I’m in JAPAN. 🤪 Everything is so beautiful and amazing! I’m walking at least 20k steps a day, sweating so much, feet hurting so much, but I’m itching to lift again. I’m debating if I should find somewhere close by to do a quick session with all my compound lifts. 🤔 but what is proper gym etiquette and gym attire here?? Pretty sure not how I act and what I wear. 😅 . One of the first thing you see coming into our gym @southbaystrengthco the members at SBSC say “our gym” it’s been a family group collective since day 1 of opening and we plan on keeping it that way. - I’m about to start prep for my first meet which means maxing out to see where I’m at. Last week I went to a meet, ate all the Korean BBQ and damn near vomited everywhere pulling this. Lesson learned who eats all you can eat KBBQ and maxes out at 10:30 at night THIS IDIOT LOL. I was tired and sore as fuck but @rizz9321 was there for me and slapped me to hell and back. In the 3 plate club with a 20 lb PR I’ll take it for inconsistent training. Super excited what @veggie_lifter has in store for me for my prep. It’s go time.

THE STRONGMAN HITCH @cambidude Long hitch warning ⚠️ Pulled 902 for a 140lb Pr to stay competitive at America’s Strongest Man. Competing my ass off against the best and couldn’t of asked for a better performance. Ended up taking 5th out of 13! Congrats to my coach Terry Rady for winning the show and excellent performances by @anthonyfuhrmanstrong and @jdef_pro_strongman for 2nd and 3rd. Theres no reason to be alive if you can't do deadlifts!!! My personal best was 550lbs. This part of the event was last man standing. I think there was 19 guys. I warmed up with two reps of 405. Then in 19 minutes I pulled, 505lbs, 525lbs, 565lbs, 585lbs and finished at 605lbs. Tieing me for second in the deadlift event. First place pulled 650lbs which was a personal best for him. I'm pretty happy with that 55lbs jump in PR for myself by not only beating my max but beat it 3 times. I have only really been training deadlifts just shy of 2 months with a starting max of 405lbs. My form on all lifts was good amd solid! Some more "masters PRs" on the #deadlift. 576 miss and then make (second vid) required some dumb meathead clownishness to get done (watch to the end). This was after a catastrophic blowout of my 18 year old belt caused a miss at 535 and had to come back for that one and then a make at 561 (first vid). @twrva and I have been at this together so long that even though I wrote my own cycle for this meet, my heavy DL day came the same weekend as all his PLers. HOW TO BUILD YOUR SHOULDERS 💪 - The keys to building bigger shoulders are not much different than most other muscle groups. - 1️⃣. Train your shoulders 2-3x per week and aim to perform 10-20 sets weekly. - 2️⃣. Heavy compound lifts should be the meat of your workouts. Start off with heavy Overhead Presses and then move on to the smaller isolation lifts for more volume. - 3️⃣. Hit Each Head: the delts are made up of three heads - front, mid, and rear. HOW TO GET BIGGER LEGS by @skiman.factual.fitness ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today's post information deals with how to develop a great pair of legs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So lets go over some "tips" for developing some quads for the gods! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1). Frequency -You want to hit the legs multiple times per week, actually there are programs for harder gainers that hit these muscle groups even 3x a week.  If you are a hard gainer on legs, the more frequency you get into your training programs the better. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2). Focus on Compound PULL/LEG Movements: -Squat, the meat and potatoes into developing great legs, you can choose to incorporate regular squats the first day of the week and then front squat on the next, another great compound movement for fully developed legs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Deadlifting is one of THE best exercises that you want to incorporate into your workout program. I recommend either sumo or conventional deadlifts. If you want to emphasize more of the glute and hamstring area then choose sumo over conventional as the latter is more back focused. I like to alternative between the two from week to week but if you have a weakness then choose one or the other. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3). High Protein: -You have to feed the muscle, the muscle will not grow in the gym but only in rest and recovery and if you are not eating the correct macros nutrients, "protein" being one of the most important of the three, you will not carry the correct amino profile for optimal muscle growth. Also if you are in a caloric deficit, it is going to make it impossible to put on size. This is the first of 9 posts we’re doing from what took place yesterday. We used to combine our competitions into 1 post and we’re humbled and blessed to be in a place in which we can no longer do that. Stay tuned for a complete onslaught. • Our team traveled to Philadelphia to compete at the 2019 @usapowerlifting Fall Philly Showdown. • We brought 8 athletes, and our team went 68/72 on all-attempts (I put 69 in our story yesterday but that was incorrect, sorry, my day was a little busy), and we collected 24 Personal Records, 3🥇Gold Medals, 2🥈Medals, and 1🥉Bronze Medal. Last but certainly not least, we brought Brittany Turner who hit the highest Female score in the entire competition. • I’m humbled to coach alongside my wife, DS co-owner, and fellow powerlifter, Angela @angelafitvc in which I could not have coached this meet without her assistance. Thanks babe, I love you. • Special thanks to the amazing folks at @dcamposfitness for hosting an excellent meet, our fellow competitors for pushing ALL of my athletes to rise up, especially Nick and the excellent lifters of @cedarstreetbarbell who it was a pleasure to compete against and network with. My best lifts (shown) were 140kg squat, 65kg bench and 157.5kg deadlift for a total of 362.5kg at 51.45kg BW and a 456 wilks! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Competing was fun, but I’m most excited to get back to normal training and get back to work! 👊🏼⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐬:⁣⁣ Squat: 137.5, 140, 142.5X⁣⁣ Bench: 60, 65, 67.5X⁣⁣ Deadlift: 140, 150, 157.5 (all time PR)⁣ ⁣ #HybridAF @simonchang3 @hybridperformancemethod #vaultopen2019 @vaultbarbellclub

So today didn't go as I'd hoped, I got the wind beneath the stones unassisted but didn't get the clearance I wanted - my stance was too wide and I was too short, but I now know to get training with a narrower stance and I'll be back to get this finished 😼 .
