Proper hip movement is important to any athlete. Having proper hip movement and mobility may improve the athlete's force production and force distribution from the ground up and vise versa. My tennis athlete here has been complaining that he's been having problems with his power output during tennis matches. After assessing his movements, we found that he had minimal connection to hips and the muscles that move it. This could be caused by his day time job as a tech being placed in a sitting position and exposing the hips into hip flexion for long periods of time. We started with mobilizing the hips and creating neural adaptations to the hinging pattern. Notice in the video that he is having a hard time finding the proper position and movement pattern. Today hit 3x5 sumo deadlift followed by an additional 3x3 sumo deadlift, some light snatch work and some ab wheel. I am trying to get better at resetting in the hole on deads, but later on my body told my I wasn’t keeping my core tension well enough, so I switched back to complete reset each rep. After the slow pull-muscle snatch-hang snatch complex my snatches felt pretty good! Close Grip Bench | 286lbs x4x10 (130kg PR) . Took my time on these sets today. Tweaked my back somehow this weekend and it's been pretty store and sore. Going easy on low body stuff for a week or 2. These felt great. Over confident on this last set and paused my reps though haha. 5kg rep PR. Skipped incline as when I struggle with that, I tend to lift my ass off the bench which puts a ton of stress on the low back. A case for wraps. The wrap is a piece of equipment that I feel is either loved or hated by the training population. Some saying that they do not care about grip strength because they are not competing, and others saying that using wraps makes you less of a lifter. The former being true for a certain set of people, where adequate loading of the barbell during training will be more beneficial because there is no end performance task. The latter being an exercise in ego. I am a powerlifter; I enjoy training powerlifting and thus the performance outcome in my mind is important. However, I do have a use for it in programming. During any intense high-volume program, it is enviable that fatigue will accrue. Intensity being the percentage weight of a 1 maximum repetition and volume being the amount of sets and reps scheduled into a program. There will be an inevitable point where grip will compromise minimising the potential progression by reducing the total volume or intensity that can be performed. In this instance I think it acceptable to use wraps, as a tool to assist accessory lifts of a program. These wraps will allow the lifter to gain more volume or repetition exposure to the deadlift without fatiguing or harming the hands during training. If the main deadlift cannot be attained using conventional means then it is not a true repetition (if you have a performance outcome in mind, being personal satisfaction or powerlifting competition). These have been used in my program to assist in healing my hands between sessions. I do a hook grip when I deadlift so after my session my hands are pretty battered (see photo 2). So I use wraps on my paused deadlift day as a means to get the extra volume in my program while also being able to load heavy by not being limited by grip and also heal my hands between sessions.

25.05.2020 1. Training nach dem Lockdown Fokusübung Kniebeuge. Darauf folgten 4 Tage ordentliche Schmerzen beim Laufen - ein schönes Gefühl 🤗 Der Lockdown verlief für mich erstmal so, dass ich die ersten drei Wochen maximal 5 Stunden am Stück schlafen konnte und auch generell massive Probleme mit dem Einschlafen hatte. Ich habe zwar tatsächlich eine Langhantel 2 Kurzhanteln und ordentlich Gewicht zu Hause rumliegen um mit Homeworkouts die Muskulatur zu erhalten, doch mal ehrlich: es ist nicht annähernd das gleiche und es hat einfach null Bock gemacht. Jammern auf hohem Niveau - ist aber so 🤷🏻‍♂️ Nebenbei bin ich 4-5 mal die Woche laufen gegangen, die Form ist dadurch also nicht aus dem Ruder gelaufen 😄 Die Diät hat mir offengelegt, dass sich die Aufbauphase gelohnt hat und ich damit auf dem richtigen Weg bin: ich kann überschüssige Haut mit aufgebauter Muskulatur füllen. Deshalb geht's jetzt direkt im fliegenden Übergang in einen gemäßigten Aufbau - also mit kleinem Überschuss. Ich starte erstmal auf ca. 3.300 kcal und schaue wo es in Sachen Gewicht und Kraft hingeht. Je nachdem wird dann angepasst (wahrscheinlich nach oben 🤓).Eine Kalkulation in der letzten Diät hatte einen Verbrauch von ca. 3.400 kcal ergeben, aber da habe ich mich definitiv noch mehr bewegt, aktuell ist für mich noch bis Oktober Büro angesagt. Best workout I’ve had in a while. No idea why I didn’t think to use both my thick bands. This made it feel like about 160kg at the top. My abs & legs finally feel like they’ve had a proper workout. 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞⁣ ⁣ As a strength athlete trying to build bigger legs, we have to look at a few different things to make sure we can still progress in our sport and grow some crazy legs. ⁣ ⁣ The first thing to consider is the skill acquisition of our sport. ⁣ ⁣ The squat and deadlift are things we need to train in some capacity year-round, but keep in mind that those aren’t necessarily the best exercises to build huge legs. We are all built differently. ⁣ ⁣ 1)Some grow huge butts when they squat.⁣ ⁣ 2) Some can grow huge quads went they squat. ⁣ ⁣ So to say the squat is the king to grow legs is not always true yet we have to train it for us to improve at our sport. ⁣ The squat requires a lot of stability, and we need our reps to be perfect, so I would always place squats first; that way, we can ensure the perfect execution of the movement without fatigue. This is not where we grow our legs; this is where we grow in our sport. ⁣ ⁣ These sets and reps don’t get pushed to failure. Each type of equipment has its role and can bring you closer to your goals, whether it’s fat loss, hypertrophy or strength gains. . . The question is: which route should you take? Dumbbells or barbells? Most importantly, when to use one and when to use the other? . . . Each type of equipment has its set of pros and cons. Barbells allow you to lift heavier weights and hence progress faster. The downside is that they carry a higher risk of injury. Legs in the garden, testing these leggings out. They're really comfortable, soft to touch and well stretchy. Squat proof as well 😊 Front squat 3x8 with the bar (not shown) deadlifts, rdl's 3x12, hip thrusts 3x12 with dumbell, farmers walk up and down the garden, then whatever them tap things are called 40s, 50s, 60s, 50s, 40s, 30s with 1m rest in between. taking this time to try and stay on top of my food to get back to my usual weight after a slow, year long bulk during which I’ve gained 7-8kg and quite a bit of muscle, which was the ultimate goal.
