Day 5, Baby! Foundation Workout felt great! Back & Core was a demonstration in how crappy my balance is! Except for the Calf Raise Hold. That was just like standing in heels. 😂 The hardest part of my week happened today. My dad invited the kids and I out to lunch at our local diner. It was my first meal out since starting our meal plan with #darebee It was hard not picking the enormous omelet or Belgian waffle I’d normally get. Instead, I opted for the Grilled Chicken with Bacon Salad and some vinaigrette. And it was great! Win for me! Tomorrow will be another test because we’ll be at our nephew’s birthday party! BUT...I’ll be as good as I can with my dinner so I can enjoy a good dessert to celebrate our nephew turning one. Woo! I got this! #darebee #foundationworkout #backandcore #healthyme

MEAL PREP! This is how I store my greens - lettuce, kale, spinach, fresh rosemary and parsley. General advice online is to never wash your veggies and greens but I find they last x3 times longer when I do and added bonus - everything is ready to chop and eat right away even on a busy day. This will last me about a week. I buy spinach and herbs at the farmers market and kale from a local specialty shop (it's not very popular here but it's my fave!). I wash, flat pack it all and store my leafy greens in the fridge crisper drawer. Then when I need some, which is basically every meal these days, I grab two handfuls and break them up using my hands (no need for a knife). It was rainy and dreary out so I decided against the gym and did a great home workout instead. The leg portions went amazingly well and the Ab portion went alright. I admit I did have to take a few second break a couple times between flutter kicks and the raised leg hold. I'm not sure if my core worked harder than I realized stabilizing me through the first leg workout or if my core was just not up to the challenge today. Even though I can do advanced Pistol Squats (weighted and jumping) I chose a PS prep workout for my 2nd leg workout. I figured it would still be a good workout (it was) and would help me perfect the individual parts of Pistol Squats. I do believe that every fitness professional, especially those specializing in weight loss, should have a mandatory weight loss journey of their own. And if they had one in their youth already, like me, they should have another one as adults at least once just to refresh it in their memory. It's one thing to know and it's a whole different thing to experience and have it fresh in your mind, especially when you already know what it's like to feel fit prior and then have all that extra weight on you. It's devastating. It screws with your brain, it makes you feel worthless and incapable. It makes you afraid of mirrors and photographs. You have to live it to truly understand what it's like to shed weight, painfully and slowly and when carrying the extra 10-20 or 50 pounds on you. Every. Single. Step of the way. No, it's not "just eat less, exercise more", it's an emotional and physical struggle. Do you know how easy it is to run when you are fit and healthy? Because it is. Try doing it when you are overweight holding on to all that extra weight every step you make. You see an overweight person running he or she is a freaking hero!!! Respect. My admiration and my complete awe goes to you. Because this is hard, this is not "just do it". It's a quest with difficulty set to max while everyone around you judges and has an opinion. Yes, everyone can do it but there is nothing easy about it. Respect it, empathize, encourage and be kinder.
