Swipe for Some Arm & Leg Gains💪🏼 - * Barbell Squat * Leg Extension * Bicep Cable Curl * RDL * Tricep Pushdown - This was a killer leg workout that you should follow. We always warm up with 10-15 minutes on cardio to work up a decent sweat. Most leg days we will warm up the legs after that with some light leg work with high repetitions on leg extensions, abductors/adductors, and light calf raise and then we will work into heavy squats. Hit some accessory work after the squats and throw in a little arms to spice things up! Seated Cable Chest Press - Sticking with the chest theme, this is an exercise I hadn’t done for a LOOOOONG time until coach Cal ( @calum_themusclementors ) included it in the most recent rotation. - I have to admit I very much under appreciated just how effective it is, but with my own increased understanding of application and execution of specific movement patterns over time, it’s funny how perspective can change! - What makes this a great choice for training the chest? It’s a great movement for applying significant tension in the lengthened/stretched position (mTOR anyone?) whilst it drops of towards the shortened position. - You could also alter the setup to make this clavicular focused (shown in video) or sternocostal focused. - The final aspect I like is that it’s a great option to refine arm path and movement competency. Many feel less exposed on the stretched position and so this can help get comfortable increasing active range towards the lengthened position. - What’s your take? Do you like cable chest presses for yourself or your clients if you’re a coach? The straight arm pulldown is one of my favourite back exercises ever. I always feel a nice burn doing this one. . MUSCLES WORKED💪🏼: . 🔹Latissimus Dorsi ( lats ) . 🔹Teres major ————————————————————————————— Form: . Step 1: Attach a rope handle to the high pulley of a cable station. Grasp an end in each hand and face the cable station. . Step 2: Draw your shoulder blades back together and down, as if you were trying to stuff them into your back pockets. . Step 3: Draw your ribs down, tuck your tailbone under, and brace your core. Your torso should feel like one tight, solid column. Bend your hips back until your torso is at a 30–45-degree angle. . Step 4: Step back from the station a bit so that you feel tension on the cable and your arms are fully extended overhead. You should feel a stretch on your lats (the muscles along the sides of your back). Set your feet at shoulder width. . Step 5: Slowly drive your arms down to your sides in an arcing motion with elbows locked out, so your hands end up in line with your hips, or just behind them. . Common mistakes in the gym, presented to you by ma + pop Gem😂 ⠀⠀ If you are in our women’s group on Facebook, keep your eye out tonight! I’m going to post a few designs for shirts I need your opinion on before I place an order💗 ⠀⠀ 1. Lat pull-down: the most common mistake I see people do is pulling the bar with their arms. This usually means their elbows are in, and they aren’t using their back muscles. Fix: lean back a little, tighten your core, and stick your chest out a little. Keep your elbows out and pull the weight to your chest using your back muscles. Pretend you have a pencil in-between your scapulas and you’re trying to hold onto it! 2. Seated cable row: Most people go hard on this, use weights that’s too heavy, and they release all the way forward and then swing back. I see this a ton with the guys in the gym and if someone doesn’t know better, they might copy others form. Fix: Pick a weight that you can control. Retract your scapulas and pull back using your back. Imagine the pencil trick. When you release, once your arms are straight you can release your scapulas but do not lean forward. Retract your scapulas and do it again! 3. Dumbbell back-row: you can use a bench for this exercise (they were all taken). Most people don’t keep their elbow tucked and they end up using their rear deltoid to lift the weight instead of their upper back. Fix: Keep your elbow tucked into your side and pull with your back, not your elbow/shoulder. When you release, same as the exercise above, release your scapula a little bit and then retract it to start the movement over. ⠀⠀ When I first started lifting weights, I had to rely on Instagram accounts. If they were doing the form wrong, chances were I did it with the form wrong too. That’s why I’m so passionate about this page + my programs!
