Working out at home today. Was wanting to get to the gym but after a quick breakfast bite out and then taking the dogs for a longish walk, anxiety hit when I got home and I wanted nothing more than to recover from it in bed. So that’s exactly what I did till I felt more mentally resilient again. Threw on my “new” (depop) flawless knit leggings and focused on back and biceps 💪🏼 or the ‘tank top’ arms workout from @niketrainingsclub. 💗One day she woke up different💗 : : Exercise is such a vital part of keeping your mental health healthy. Man, I could feel the effects of skipping a few days of workouts. For me, it’s like a slow burning ember that turns into a raging wildfire if I don’t get in a good workout. I NEED to physically dump that negative energy and the best way to do that for me is either hard cardio/HIIT or lifting heavy. Over the last few months I’ve been dealing with a shoulder injury - weak rotator cuff and bicep tendinitis. As a fitness instructor and typically a workout enthusiast (yes, most of the time I actually enjoy this sh** 😂), I have this expectation of what my body can handle. This whole thing has really thrown me!! .. Before this I was trying to figure out where I could find some inexpensive dumbbells because I was ready to progress from my 15’s. Today in my workout, I had to drop my 2 lb weights because I couldn’t stabilize even those!! I know that my larger muscles are so much stronger than that but pushing too hard with weak stabilizers, I would put myself at risk for even further injury. .. This has been such a long, slow process but I know that I will come back even stronger from it because I’m building an even stronger foundation. .. So my NOTE TO SELF SATURDAY is this... Forget the self-imposed expectations. Put in the work, strengthen the foundation, and come back stronger than ever!!

Let’s hit back and biceps babyy😈 Here’s the the full workout, and god damn was my back on fire. Working your back gives the illusion of a smaller waist, so let’s build those curves🔥 . 1️⃣ 4X8-12 bent over barbell row 2️⃣ 4x8-12 lat pulldown 3️⃣ 4X8-12 cable neutral grip row 4️⃣ 3X15 single arm db row each 5️⃣ 4X8-12 assisted pull ups 6️⃣ 3X15 cable lat pullover superset with 3X15 cable rope curls 7️⃣ 4X8-12 db curls . This was my first time recording a workout and not going to lie it was intimidating😂 I was scared of people staring at me and I didn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable, but it turned out alright I would say. With that being said, I want to start filming more of my workouts so I can look back and see my progress with form, execution, progressive overload, and strength. This was definitely not a great video demonstration. I recorded this at the end of my workout when my muscles were already pooped which caused my form to be iffy😬 BUT it’s okay, I will keep trying because I enjoyed it and I know they will improve over time.

The saying: Wider grip, Wider Lats has led to many people only utilizing the wide grip. However, studies have shown that a closer grip can actually result in a slightly higher activation in the lats (and higher bicep activation).⁠ ⁣ ⁣ So anything between 1 to 1.25 of shoulder width is best for working your lats.
