Why | how | the addiction of climbing... . I’ve always climbed in the boulder huts for years just to increase upper body strength for other sports. After deciding that becoming an old bird, taking blows to the head and knocks to the body too much will eventually take its toll, I changed focus to more climbing. Encouraged initially by someone who’d enter my life for a brief period (and grateful for that 🙏🏼) I can confess...... I got totally addicted! And it’s quite possibly one of the hardest sports you can do. It requires so much from you physically and mentally. I’ve met so many nice people and made some amazing friends through it my only regret is not focusing on this sport more so, years earlier. But still, I’m here now and boy is it awesome. . If you haven’t tried climbing, I highly recommend you get a buddy and give it a go, but be careful..... it is very addictive and a lot more fun than the gym ever will be !😉 . #climbingislife

Yesterday’s gym sesh absolutely killed me. I was tired to begin with and was just so irritated and the last place I wanted to be was at gym. It’s okay to not feel okay. College educated at Fisk University, a woman who’s professional accomplishments stood as tall as she in her 6 foot frame. ⁣I honestly cannot believe I am looking at myself when I look at this video. It took me about a year and a half of constant practice to be able to do this & honestly I never thought I would be strong enough or skilled enough to do it. Now I can climb the rope on my first or second try. Hopefully I can also do this on my next spartan race, I am so proud of how far I’ve come. Left photo: Jan 4th 2020... most horrendous careless photo of me ever 😂😩 ⁣🤮 ⁣ Right photo: Feb 19th 2020⁣ (today) ⁣ Besides the fact the lighting is different, I’m wearing different clothes & I look more tanned on the right - the real difference between these photos, as cringe as it may sound, is my mentality 😝 In the new year I felt like the biggest slob. I’ve always been careful with what I eat, but the last few months of 2019 I went off the rails, drinking and eating way more than I should have. I felt so weak, stodgy & sluggish all the time, and literally didn’t want to go out because I hated what I was starting to see in the mirror. I’d never been this size! so this year I decided to do something about it before it became a continued downwards spiral. ⁣ ⁣ *I’m not posting this to show weight loss results as such, because I’m still working on that and my thighs are still chub😝* ⁣ If you’re constantly feeling stodgy and low on energy, and can see your weight creeping up - do something about it because you will feel amazing as a result and during the process. Just like the joy of a new relationship, I find myself rediscovering bodybuilding through working my legs more intently. Yes, I will not deny that there is level of thought engineering which compels me at least bring myself to the gym. In the last 42 or so days I have completed 2 😱 BOD programs. I’ve always viewed myself as someone who can never finish anything. Someone who couldn’t commit. I wanted so bad to be that person who could set their mind to something and do it. One day I thought what is the difference between me and those fit strong energetic successful moms I follow and see? Why is it so hard for me? I face a lot of demons and a lot of battles within my head that not many people know about. And the thoughts I would think day to day was what was holding me back. I started to tell myself I can commit I am strong I do deserve to have the things that god has put in my life and I am a good mom and I deserve to be happy within myself. Listening to personal development working out and eating right is what’s getting me out of bed everyday. I love my children and they come first. I also love my inner child who needs daily acceptance and love. With each program I start and finish my strength grows and my heart grows and softens and opens up. Two days in a row. Trying to build some momentum & work my way back up to 5-6 days of working out per week. Lower body momentum builder workout. Did some warmup stretching before moving into the primer and primary workout. Only did a single round of the primer because it was getting late in the evening. Primary was 30-15 with 4 sets of each exercise before a 90 second rest between rounds. Primer: - DS alternating rhythmic reaches - DS mountain climbers Round 1: - Attachment free front squat with DS band - DS side step Round 2: - Attached side hops right - Attached side hops left Round 3: - Reverse lunge right - Reverse lunge left Round 4: - Shuffle acceleration right - Shuffle acceleration left Used the red band to stretch. The green DS band for primer. Then the black band for squat and two linked purple bands for everything else. It was a hard workout, but felt really good. From sickness to technology fails to everyday interruptions, there are loads of obstacles, both internal and external, to contend with on your path to finish what you start. However, if you plan for problems ahead of time and plot out exactly how you’ll overcome them- you’re far more likely to stay on track and follow through. Brainstorm a list. Brainstorm a list of typical challenges, distractions, and obstacles that can take you off track. From social media, internet outages, group texts, daytime calls from family to not having food in the house. Write them down. Make a plan to overcome each challenge. Make a plan to overcome each challenge. For instance if your follow-through problem is that group text messages interrupts you all day, one solution is to put your phone on silent, airplane mode or turn off your phone completely during focus time. Is your challenge that you don’t think ahead for lunch and it seems to become big chore that takes forever? One solution is to prepare meals on Sundays to stay nourished and focused during the week, also saving you time in cooking multiple days. Cook once, eat multiple times!

2020Fit Tuesday Run I started as the tail runner for the group but struggled with my knee. I’m not quite sure what’s happened to I but prolonged lack of movement causes me pain when I move again so I found the stop/start movement a bit challenging. Sometimes you just need the wind as your background noise. This bootie burner using the foam roller really works those glutes! The key is to keep the hips up (which is soooo hard if you’re 5’1”). I haven’t been back to my gym in over 2 weeks (because vacation and well, LIFE 😂) and it feels gooooooood. This is what I gain from working out... . . Clearer thoughts. Less anxiety. Happier moods. Weight loss Wednesday ✌️ January ‘19 VS now 💕The photo on the left- I was already 11lbs down from calorie counting but the day after seeing that photo I knew that I had to focus on making real changes so I started SW online. #bemindful66, I know this challenge is over now but I’ve had a busy week, found myself learning to balance and take some time out during your day to find some peace. I find doing a little yoga or just sitting on the floor with my legs crossed, breathing slowly helps me calm and have a moment. Sometimes having a busy week with filming, editing, working and going to the gym time can feel as if it’s passing by quickly. When your body finally digests those fries 🙈 on a more serious note I am actually so excited to work on my diet and exercise routine this year! I’ve had bloating and horrible stomach aches on and off for the last few years and I just don’t feel strong. I’m trying an elimination diet (cutting out certain foods that I might be allergic or have an intolerance to) and so far it’s going pretty well. I’m also going to get more specific on what kinds of exercising I enjoy so I can start incorporating that regularly into my week. Does anyone else have fitness or physical health goals for this year? #BeginnerSeries: "So what’s the best fitness plan for me?" - It’s the one that you can ADHERE to in the long run. It has to fit around your lifestyle. It has to be enjoyable. It might not be absolutely perfect, it might not follow all the evidence-based guidelines but it’s a plan you can see yourself stick to even when January motivation is gone. - 👉🏻 Adherence, consistency, enjoyment. If you’ve got those 3, you will succeed - 👉🏻 At the end of the day, a slightly imperfect plan you follow consistently with will get you to your goals much faster than hopping from an "ideal programme" you will soon be dreading to another ✌🏼
